He always takes his dog Tumang with him when he goes hunting. One day, Sangkuriang went hunting in the forest as usual. When Sangkuriang arrived in the forest, he went in search of prey. Sangkuriang saw a bird perched on a branch, and without thinking he immediately shot the bird and hit the mark. Sangkuriang then ordered Tuman to hunt prey first, but Tumang said nothing and refused to obey Sangkuriang's orders. Sangkuriang was furious with Tuman and kicked him out and was not even allowed to go home with him. When she got home, Sangkuriang told her mother about the incident. Dayang Sumbi was very angry when he heard about this from his son. He hit Sangkuriang on the head with a rice scoop. Frustrated by his mother's treatment, Sangkuriang decided to travel and left home.
