The Royal House | Chapter 2 | The Heist
The next four days went by quickly. Ace laid out his plans for shutting down security. Queen secured two invitations to the auction. King did, well, whatever it is that King does. I holed myself up in my apartment, working day and night on my forgery, covering up an old painting of mine. Every day, the four of us would meet back at the warehouse, updating each other on our progress, and running through our plans countless times. Everything had to be perfect.

The Royal House | Chapter 1 | The Crew
I woke up on the morning of Sunday, January 12th, and went on my daily three-mile run. On my way home, I stopped by the usual hole-in-the-wall coffee shop for breakfast; ham and cheese on a bagel, and went back home. I put my keys in the door to my apartment, took a shower, and went to the mirror to shave. I spread shaving cream over my short beard and took the razor to it. After putting on some aftershave, I studied my appearance. I'm a fairly short man, only five foot nine inches, with dirty blonde hair, and a lean build. The most curious feature, however, were my eyes, one gold, one silver. After getting dressed for the day, in simple jeans and a t-shirt, and went to my kitchen to eat my bagel. There was a letter on the table that hadn’t been there when I got home. I looked around cautiously before grabbing it and slitting the top of the envelope, to take out the letter. All there was was an address and time:

The Binding Blood
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. At least, not while the Humanoid Republic thrived. As legend has it, dragons were the original dominant species on the planet Soul as well as the inventors of alchemy and astrology and founders of magic; the combination of which brought the bipedal Humanoid Class into existence through Shamava’s experimentation with Huma’natur’rah, meaning ‘Those Beneath Our Shadows.’ Thus, after thousands of years and plenty of failed iterations, thirteen species had evolved with equally comparable intelligence. There are the four omnivorous Primates: Furless, Ape, Dwarf, and Elf; the four carnivorous Beasts: Canine, Feline, Rodent, and Reptilian; the three herbivorous Grazers: Ungulate, Bovine, and Hippopotamus (or Orcs, for short); the deciduous Seedlings; and, finally, the now extinct Cetaceans. Shamava’s intention was to propagate stewards of Soul for when dragons ascended to another world. However, Kahba the Conqueror thought Soul should belong to dragons forever and sought to enslave Humanoids and all “lesser” beings. Some followed while the remainder supported Shamava's Dream and defended the Humanoids in a great battle that lasted a single day: The Eclipse of Onrico. Being a legend as such, not much is known beyond that day nor why any dragon influence had since ceased. One thing is known for certain: they have reappeared in the Valley of Shamava and not with peaceful intentions, it would seem.

Elven Artifact of the Lost City
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley, once there was a glorious city built by the ancient Elven folk that has since passed into the astral plains far from mortal eyes. Now their city lies in ruin in this abysmal lonely valley where hungry dragon screeches can be heard echoing up into the mountains, where many wicked dark beasts stalk beneath the dragon’s nests waiting for a few morsels to fall through. It has been said that a magical artifact is hidden deep within the ancient city, an artifact so powerful that if put into the wrong hands could destroy everything. It seems the dragons and beasts are there to guard such a dangerous artifact.

A Terrible Fate
A Terrible Fate It was a fairly small place; attracting, from what I could tell, mostly local patronage from the south side of the city. It certainly looked appealing from the outside; with thick, stained glass windows, an arching mansard roof, and an old, though well-kept sign hanging from the canopy above the front door; swinging creakily in the wind and the rain.

Dragonally
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Within the crevices of the Valley, you can find yourself eye to eye with the redeyes. There's a secret that lingers in the alleyways that the redeyes live and gather at dusk to remain out of sight of villagers. Two years ago you wouldn’t find any of the dragons within this Valley. The creatures live outside of the Valley within caverns as assets and they would assist travelers in establishing a way of unit control. Dragons were on the verge of extinction with troubling illnesses due to the ownership of the capitalist. Many rules have changed since The Blast the population has decreased in size by four multiples. The Valley has grown smaller, buildings are not refurbished due to the government not providing funding. The Capital has not returned to visit the Valley to question the disappearance of the dragons as if they ceased to exist in the first place.

Queen of Dragons
THERE WEREN’T ALWAYS DRAGONS IN THE VALLEY, but the predecessors were evil in their own way. These lands were once free of such creatures. The only vermin that existed were those that scurried down the alleyways, crawling into the locked chambers of their woeful, secret lovers who screamed into the night at a moon who would never sing back.

Last Stand
There weren’t always dragons in the valley… There were first humans… humans fighting each other. The first thing she noticed were the crystals falling on her cheek. She slowly opened her eyes to reveal a gray sparkly sky that captivated her. It was so quiet... After a moment of staring she attempted to gather her thoughts until she noticed... She was on sand. Ignoring the impossible thought of light snow falling in a desert or beach, she sat up and was instantly zapped with a searing pain in her head… Had she been unconscious instead of asleep? Her hair was neatly put into a single long braid...

Mythical Nightmares
There weren't always dragons in the Valley and there definitely weren’t always giant glowing holes popping up all around the world that led to the dragons being in the Valley. That is reality though, which is great, and terrifying, and kind of confusing.

Something About Wormholes
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. To be fair, there weren’t always colonies of mushroom people in the forest or sentient scarecrows in the desert, either. If I remember correctly - and it’s getting hard to, I’ll tell ya - the dragons are the most recent, at least for this area, and they’ve been here for a few years.
