The Sun rose brightly that morning. The people gathered in the temples at dawn, dressed in white, to worship.
The priests had called them there to witness the culmination of their centuries of devotion. Of their sacrifices.
For countless ages the Sun had given life to Earth, and purpose to its people.
Today was the day that the meaning of it all would be revealed.
Tired, hungry and thirsty, the entire population of the Land watched as the Sun rose in the sky.
Until it reached the zenith.
Twelve o’clock.
Midday.
Noon.
Then it exploded.
