Stolen, Part 2 (For Paul S)

Nualla's Rebirth

Nualla, nymph of the forest - Danie Franco on Unsplash

Nualla had no idea how long she had been cocooned within the enveloping warmth and safety of the Boquila trifoliolata mimicking plant's comforting embrace. She felt such peace and bliss, like she had never known or felt before. She was home.

The plants had nourished and transformed her entire body. The changes within her psyche were subtle, yet pronounced. Nualla heard every whisper of the trees around her. She heard their stories. Old oaks spoke of the years when the earth was cool, and men didn't make such demands for trees. The young trees gloried in each day's bright sunlight, with expectations of new lifeforms betwixt lovely leaves.

She had been reborn, was now a part of the forest, as if she had always been here.

Nualla heard the voices telling her that it was time..She was ready for her other life.

Never! Nualla pleaded. Let me stay here! I am so warm and free!

"You are ready, child. The forest can no longer harm you. You are us, and we are you"!

The leaves unfolded slowly. She closed her eyes..Opened them.

Jurney stood before her. The large tiger bowed her head.

Nualla had stolen the heart of the forest!

I was hoping there would be a part two for this! I thought it would be sinister, but I’m pleasantly surprised. A rebirth. That’s beautiful.
