Fiction Shorts word of the day: Benighted
The head Professor at the local university had a soft spot for one particular student.
Tommy was enthusiastic, willing to put in the effort, keen to accelerate his growth but he was also benighted when it comes to science and physics, no matter how much he studied.
Yet he strove to become a a famous scientist, hoping to eventually be awarded a noble prize.
The Professor, on the other-hand, knew he had to steer Tommy towards the arts, where he was sure he would excel and make a name for himself.
Tommy wasn’t making the Professor’s ambition very easy!
This drabble has been written as part of the daily Drabble Drop challenge and today's random word, that must be included in the drabble, is 'benighted'.

A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful idea in a confined space.

Beyond the Sterile Walls The sterile white walls pressed in, each exhale echoing in some measure, a constant reminder of the confinement. Eloise traced a finger along the cool surface, the rhythmic hum of the ventilation system the sole company in the featureless room. Hunger gnawed at her stomach, a dull ache that had become a deadly companion. How long had it been? Days? Weeks? Time stretched and warped in this isolation.
