Spark of light in the dark...

The huntress of Silver Sea

By Silvia ThomasPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

"Etros unda velos capri vendrous alterium!" Screamed Cam at the moon as we stood in our joined circle. The sparks of the magic we were putting out started to make the fire whip back and fourth. I watched as the fire danced. Then the image of the people that had killed our sisters came to my mind. The fire roared higher and I felt the surge of power run through me. The power was intoxicating and overwhelming. I felt my Celine to my left buckle under the weight and fall to one knee and then the same on my right with Lisa. As I looked around all the women in our coven were falling to the immense power except for Cam, Lilly, and me. We happened to be the strongest warriors in our coven so to me it didn't really surprise me. As I looked around I could feel the magic in the air and the acute feeling of danger filled the space around us, so much so that the forest around us had gone eerily quiet.

The fire drew my attention again as an image of the group responsible for hanging our sister after beating and raping her came into view. There was about five of them and there were men and women in there little circle celebrating that they killed a witch. A woman who seemed to be the mastermind was wearing one of our covens moonstones as a trophy around her neck. A wicked smile crept up Cam's face as she uttered, "its time to hunt." We gather our strength and then summon our weapons of choice. Then our warrior garments. My sword Drago appears and into me it send the enourmous power that it holds in its steel. I strap it to my back and check to see that my daggers are also on my sides. I pull my cloak over my head and secure it in place with a simple spell. Then I look up and see that Cam is leading the way out of the forest. I wait till the others are far in front to follow. I come out of the forest and find that Cam and Lilly are ready to go.

Morgana our elder blesses us with a protection spell and the others bow their heads slightly toward us. The three of us set out and begin our hunt for our fallen sister's moonstone. We run through the forest with the aid of wolves that live in the dark death forest to the village that lies far beneath our mountain home. At the edge of the forest the wolves leave us in the shadows. We make our way to through the darkness. The group we are hunting is in a grand two story home at the end of the village and has fires lit to light the pathway to the entrance. The smell of burning wood hits my nostrils and then I catch a new scent. One of death, but not any death the death of one who held magic. The anger and rage of the coven courses through me. Sending a surge of power through every fiber of my being. The sweetly sick aroma of our fallen sister is almost too much to handle but I am a dragon mage so that smell if a grim reminder of wars past.

We make our way to through the shadows to the back of the large house where we hear singing and cheering come from the back door. Then I hear it the voice of the woman in charge. The same voice I heard in my vision as they murdered, beat, and raped my sister. She laughs and says in triumph, "now that we have gotten rid of one of those digusting witches we can get rid of another and cleanse our world of their evil kind." The rest of her part cheers and continues to celebrate. Cam signs for me and Lilly to take the side door and the top floor. I nod and use a spell to jump onto the roof as quietly as possible. I land with no sound and find a balcanoy on the second floor that I jump down to. I unlock the door and head inside. I find the room empty so I make my way to the door but then something catches my ear. Crying of a child, so I head in that direction and find the source of the crying in a dark cold room. I break the locks on the door and head inside. A small girl is being held tight by a small boy who looks at me with anger in his eyes. He raises his little chin as he triumphanly says, "you won't break us. My sister maybe crying but I will defend her from you horrible monsters." This makes me take a step back. I look at the boy in confusion and then hear chains rattling in another dark corner of the room. I take my stance ready to defend myself and the children as I spin around on my heals. I spell my eyes to see through the dark and see a human man chained to the wall. He looks badly beaten and he is bleeding badly.

Confusion runs through my mind as I hear footsteps outside in the hallway leading to the door. I hide in the shadows and stay silent. Then one of the women from the celebration comes in the room. She seems drunk as she stumbles in and heads in the direction of the man then says, "you thought you could refuse my love," she hiccups as she goes on, "but you didn't know that I am related to such a powerful person." She hiccups again as I listen carefully, "My sister killed your witch bitch and now its their turn." She turns to the children and leap into action, slicing her throat as I whisper, "You killed the wrong mage human."
