Something Windy this way comes
Flash fiction. Two boys one girl and a tornado. Nothing can go wrong. Just an easy cute read, join Charlie, Mel and Moses until the full stop brings one to an end.

It was cool being home schooled. I thought whatever I had learned would stay in my mind. Not leak into my dreams, like melted ice cream.
That reminds me, why don’t the ice cream man ever come anymore. I know it’s only been a day, but I would be less afraid if I heard the music in my ear. It would have to pass the pinna, but it would get to my brain and turn back the clock.
Dad said if I hyper focus on a topic, I would be less afraid if my mind causes me to be. But mom said I should wake her up and come give her a hug, but two opposing forces causes me to break unevenly. I think I would do what dad says, it’s 3am and It feels wrong to wake them.
Tornados have the fastest winds on earth. Like inside of it, inside its body, dad would joke. But it is, it really is inside the tornado. May 3rd 1999, a Doppler radar measured a wind speed of 302 mph in a tornado, near Bridge Creek Oklahoma.
While I don’t live in the US, it would be strange to find one outside my window, bigger than what is usually common here.
My little sister pushed open my door.
‘A nightmare came to my room, Charlie.’ Mel started to cry as she reached her short arms towards me. My two upper, long limbs wrapped themselves around her, and her sobs died down as she sniffled.
‘Remember what daddy told us about those wind shears,’ She turned her head and looked up at my chalk board with coloured papers pinned onto it.
‘… where winds at different altitudes blow at varying speeds and directions…’ she tried to match dads tone and voice. Repeating each word as if she was tracing them.
‘They create a horizontal spinning tube of air in the atmosphere, don’t they?’ She nodded and her big eyes bore themselves through mine and I pulled her in for another hug.
‘Better?’ I asked and she nodded against my shoulder. But it all ended when she pushed herself from me and pointed up towards my window.
‘What is it?’ I was still looking at her, in my mind I thought she wanted to climb. It’s too dangerous.
But I reluctantly pull my eyes away. That’s when I saw it. A brown leaf stuck against my window, loosely. As if it was breathing, it peeled itself off again and vanished. OH!
There was a tornado outside my house. There’s a tornado outside my house.
sh-
Right.
Mom said I must not swear.
‘Mel, get little Moses...’ I ordered.
Everything was happening all at once. Moses walked in, in the quiet way he does. He rarely speaks a word, so I won’t talk to him right now. I must wake mom and dad.
I started to look for my shoes, before realising that I don’t need them.
‘Mom, dad!’
I saw a hand grab Moses.
A/N: I feel like I’ve unlocked some part of my mind. The stories used to be stuck, in some sort of filing cabinet. And whenever I would try to pull them out, they would rip like weak paper. Has that ever happened to you?
I had a dream last night. Of the world ending. Well, not quite. But there was a tornado outside my house, same as Charlie. I like to call my husband Charlie, in a child’s voice. But that’s not his name. Anyways, that was what inspired this story. The name Charlie had to be used, because I say it so darn much. Thank you so much for reading if you got this far, and oh, I can’t forget my classic ‘🤗🙏🏽♥️’ that’s how you know it’s me. Give me a comment, give me a heart, I will humbly give them back. It’s freee weeee!
