A Comfort Becomes A Quiet Testament To A Man's Life
Under the dimly-moonlit sky, Edward, a young soldier hugged a worn-out teddy bear, a relic from his childhood.
He thought of his little sister, Beth, who had given it to him for protection. Her innocent belief was that it would keep him safe during the war.
Teardrops soaked the bear's fur as Edward longed for home, the scent of freshly baked cookies, and Beth's laughter echoing in the halls.
A blinding flash and a missile's fearsome howl tore the silence and the world slowed.
Leaving only the bear, marked with the crimson stain of sacrifice.

The soft crackling of sand was the only sound that accompanied the helmsman, left alone after the crew sought refuge below deck. Amidst the solitude, only the dwarf stood at the helm, his thoughts wandering across the horizon. Responsibility for the night's events would fall squarely on his shoulders, save for a man and a woman trying to cheat their shipmates with a game of dice.
