I woke up to the smell of coffee, but the house was silent.

The mug sat on the table. Still warm. Her handwriting on a sticky note:

“Didn’t want to wake you.”

That was it.

No goodbye.

No fight.

No closure.

Just a sticky note, a half-empty mug, and the sound of nothing.

I searched every room like she might still be there, hiding, watching, unsure. But it was clear — she had made up her mind long before her feet stepped out that door.

We always think endings come with explosions.

Sometimes they come with silence.
