She could make it. It was going to be tight but she'd make it.

This is what she told herself as she came up too fast to the roundabout.

This is what she told herself when she saw the black BMW powering towards her from the right.

This is what she told herself as, rather than braking, she put her foot to the floor and willed the car forwards. They'll brake, she thought.

The force of the impact jolted her head to the side, enough to crack her neck and as she collided with the hedge, she couldn't make it.
