It was in the Mojave desert, near a small Arizona town, where I first met you.
Surrounded by endless blue skies and mountains of sand. Red rock cliffs hanging majestically in the background. And there you were, out of place, smack dab in the middle of a mystery.
It was a sight that drew spectators from as far as Nevada to see you.
I can't begin to contemplate what series of events must have taken place to get you in this place, this situation, but there you are, silently telling a tale no one can fathom, grasping to understand what happened here in this sanctuary of beauty.
Where did you come from? What must you have been thinking as it all unfolded? What could have happened in your life for this to be considered a reasonable option? Where are the people who must have once loved you?
So many unanswered questions and still, you remain quiet.
I may be out of line to assume that you had a normal upbringing, with siblings and parents that loved you. Were you a good student, did you excel in school? What were your friends like? Did you go to prom, are there pictures out there that show another side of the you I am seeing now? Did you love, were you happy? How DID you get here?
The desert remains as quiet as you are. The sand, blowing and drifting, not unlike you, at the mercy of the elements. The sun and the wind pushing and moulding everything at will.
Selfishly holding the secrets of what has us all here today...You.
You are still, but your body has a story to tell, naked and bruised, small in stature, but...you put up a fight and you ran, not far, but you ran.
Your body was strong and you fought... because you're a mother! Your body says so.
But where is your baby?
Someone definitely took their time to plan this moment, they took their time making sure to have everything just right and ready for you.
One thing is obvious to me. You were not prepared.
Not the surprise you were expecting, I suppose.
I've spent weeks sorting through the things they left behind, trying to determine what happened and uncover clues that will tell me who they are and where they went.
I have only gathered that you were a confident woman, sure that you had life figured out, so sure you knew where it was leading you, that something like this could never happen to you.
The four girls that found you were out enjoying a day of adventure. I can't help but wonder if that is what you thought you were doing as well.
They had been out searching for a ghost town when they unknowingly walked right into a nightmare.
Still, as they found you broken and abandoned, lying bare and left as an offering to the sun and sky. They refused to leave you. They were determined to find you peace.
That is how I found you. This is how we met.
Now, please help me find the ones responsible for doing this to you.
