It ate up Mercury and Venus but scorched Earth. It was enough to wipe out all life on the planet. It grew into a red giant and then became a white dwarf. A panoply of color all sent clouds of matter through the Solar System.

It had to die. It had been burning for over nine billion years. What took so long? The humans of Earth already prepared new interplanetary bases and thriving cities on Mars. They will be underground as well and shield the people from the sun’s wrath.

“I’ll be damned. The sun’s gonna die someday,” Hanover Clemerson said.
