The Ruins of Dawn

1,000 years ago there was a beautiful town known as Dawn. Dawn glowed with white and yellow streets and a beautiful turquoise sky. The rifters and humans lived in peace. The town was known for the abundance of rifters among the town. Sako was a rookie rifter before the war took place. Sako had the potential to become the strongest rifter in his existence. Rifters were automatically granted superspeed, strength, weapon enhancement, and the ability to go in between worlds. Their armor was so sleek it looked like a part of them, courtesy of nanotech. Each rift had their own unique color to their armor. In 3076 the war of the Rifts took place. The humans got jealous and believed they should have these powers as well. They fought for 500 years non-stop, until finally Sako rose up to release one final attack. “Stop the fighting now!” Sako was left all alone with no rifters or humans around. Sako was left all alone in the ruins of Dawn, he decided to rest after his battle. Dawn didn’t glow at all anymore there was a grey shadow hovering over it with no light to be seen. Another 500 years later travelers went to visit what was left of Dawn. They searched for hours looking for just any little scrap of something valuable. They found a yellow armor lying in the middle of the street with Sakos body inside. There was a code on the right chest piece of his armor. They pressed the code in and then Sakos armor awoke him from his slumber. “Who am I, why am I here, who are you people!” Sakos memory appeared to be lost after his blow in 3576 he must’ve torn himself apart. “Sako? That’s the name on your right shoulder, there was a huge war centuries ago we believe you were a part of.” The travelers desperately wanted a guardian in case of another war was to break out. Sako was willing to make a deal with them, “ Tell me who the two of you are and help me find who I am then maybe I’ll consider working with you.”

Sako was always hesitant of new people. The travelers had a secret to tell since the beginning. “We are speedster travelers from the World of Eden, we have been searching for the legend known as Sako for a while now. You are in all the history books on every world known to man. You’re the hero that everyone wants to be. I am Ikari and this is my partner Sadow. We have been granted speed along with minimal parts of the rifters powers.” Ikari wore a black trench coat with his sleek black armor underneath, while Sadow wore a white trench coat with sleek white armor underneath. The armor was to protect them from burning themselves while running to fast and also for protection. It wasn’t as sleek as the Rifters but close. Their versions of nanotech differed with Edens being mostly white and black, Dawn had the freedom to choose whatever color they wanted because of how rich it was before the war. Ikari and Sadows’ armor looked as if they had been a part of the war of the Rifts. Although they gave him all the information about them, he still didn’t know who he was. Sako just needed more answers. “What is a Rifter? Am I truly that powerful? Can you two please tell me my powers and train me to hone my skills. Ikari and Sadow you are my only chance of becoming who I truly am.” Ikari immediately started training Sako. “Let's start with your speed, focus on nothing but electricity feel it cruising through every vein in your body, ready to run Sako? Go!” Sako ran so fast he phased through the walls he was supposed to splat onto. “What a rush Ikari! I bet that never gets old huh! I never wanted the feeling to stop. What’d you think about that Sadow?” Sadow even while a tiny bit jealous admitted Sakos faster than both Ikari and Shadow combined. “I think you may be faster than both of us combined rookie. No one has ever come close to our speeds before.” Sako was already passionate about the next ability he gets to explore. “Well in that case “I’ll stop showing off in front of you youngins, what’s next Ikari?” Ikari wanted to see how much strength Sako had built up from all these years of being unconscious. “Strength Sako, let's test that out. Start with this bridge.” Sako tried and tried to lift the bridge but didn’t believe he could do it. Ikari tried giving him some encouragement, “Clear your mind, don’t doubt yourself you are the most powerful rift to live.” Sako finally got it eventually. “Come on I can do it! This is nothing! 3...2....1. Finally!” Sako could only lift the bridge for a few seconds, but no one was ever said to lift the bridge of Dawn before. “I’m so powerful aren’t I! I feel like I could do this all-day honestly! That was a lot though scratch what I just said I think I need a nap.” Ikari remembered every Rifter has a second wind button on their bicep. “Hit the button on your bicep Sako you should get a second wind.” Sako hit the button with no hesitation, he definitely wanted to keep going. “Oh wow Ikari I feel amazing let's do the next session now. These powers just keep getting better and better don’t they?” Ikari and Shadow were amazed at being able to train a legend rifter especially Sako. Sako took the next two training sessions while Ikari rested. “It does feel that way doesn’t it? I’ll take the next two lessons Ikari have a break alright? So Sako next up is your weapon enhancing technique. Run around this place to see if you can find a sword, gun,or any weapon you can find.” Sako came back in under 1 second, he found a sword with a heavy string going across the back like a backpack strap. “Ok I found a sword with some really heavy string on the back. Maybe if I pull this hard enough it might do something.” Sadow knew what it could do but didn’t want Sako to jump ahead yet. “Stick to the sword for now, wrap your hand around the handle and swing in an X formation.” The sword glowed purple electricity throughout it just like when he runs. Sadow knew he was ready to test out the sword. “Ok now Slice through the small building next to you, make sure you step back immediately after. Unless you wanna building on top of you.” The building collapsed in what felt like an instant. “Oh my Dawns! I must’ve been so much better than what I already am. This is crazy, No wonder I’m in so many history books.” Sadow wanted to wrap up training as soon as possible quickly moving onto the final lesson. “You’re right but we have to wrap this up. Now make the same X shape again, then pull the string back hard enough so the sword becomes a bow. There you go Sako now shoot the very center of the X and think of any world you want to visit.” The only one Sako could think of was the World of Eden. “Well lets see your world.” A purple portal opened revealing the World of Eden under attack. Shadow had to wake up Ikari and leave immediately. “Ikari we must leave now, our world is being destroyed while you lay resting. Get Up! Sako you may be the only way we get through this battle alive.” Sako was always up for a challenge. “Only one way to find out Sadow. Both of you get everyone to safety I’ll take whatever that thing is in the meantime. Hey! Pick on someone your own size big guy.” The thing facing Sako reminded him of something their armors looked the same. “ Why do you have similar armor as me?” The human knew who he was up against yet stood there with confidence. “You must be the legend known as Sako if I’m not mistaken. My name is Naka, our races fought for centuries until you blasted us almost out of existence.” Sako knew about the blast, but not how Naka survived. “How did you survive human? You don’t deserve the power of a rifter.” Naka only saw more power for her. “We’ll see about that I’ve gained the power of 5 different Rifters so far, you’re gonna be my 6th edition.” Sako knew he could take Naka on without breaking a sweat. “We’ll see about that won’t we human?” Sako immediately ran as fast as he could trying to sweep the human from his feet. The human dodged multiple attacks until finally Sako stabbed her in the arm. After that the human started getting more serious. “Nice hit, my turn.” Sako used his speed and traveling ability to his advantage. The human couldn’t get one hit in, constantly dodging between worlds. Sako slowly started triggering memories during his fight. He started to remember The War of the Rifts. Especially the interactions between the captain and him. “Sako take cover the humans may take this battle.” Sako was fearless and willing to do anything to stop the war. “Captain we need to be at full strength if we’re gonna win. I’m going out there!” That’s when he saw his last action, Sako had a weapon strong enough to wipe out worlds. It was named the X. A bow strong enough to shatter any world we know of. His captain wanted Sako safe at all times, but he never listened. “Sako stand back now! You won’t survive alone out there!” Sako knew he would survive, but didn’t know about the rest. “Watch me captain. I’m gonna make the decision no one else will.” He ran directly to the middle of Dawn pulling the bow back as strong as he could. When he finally released no one saw anything but a purple shine. This was the last anyone heard of the rifters. Sako knew he could best anyone in combat including the human in front of him now. “I just remembered human, I’m the strongest rifter alive.” Sako ran fast enough so the human couldn’t see him anymore. Finally Sako shot his bow through the humans eye killing him instantly. Ikari and Sadow arrived moments after Sakos first victory. Sadow was proud to see Sako exceed. “ I see the old man knows what he’s doing now Ikari.” Sako was grateful he could look after their city better than he did his own. “It’s a good thing Eden doesn’t look as bad as my town Dawn.” Ikari noticed he began to gain his memory back. “You remember Dawn Sako? What did it look like?” Sako remembered it like it was yesterday. “The city glowed with white and yellow streets and a beautiful turquoise sky. The Rifters protected the humans like they were our own family. We were legends in their eyes, until they turned against us. They thought they deserved our powers too, so they tried taking it. Until I stopped the nonsense 500 years ago.” Ikari and Shadow were moved by Sakos adventure and decided to rebuild Dawn. It only took them 4 days with their speeds combined. Ikari wanted to make sure they said their goodbyes, “It may not be filled with all the joy, but at least it’s a start I’m glad we could help.” Sako was very appreciative but wanted company as well. “Thanks you can stay as long as you want. I don’t really have any other companions.” Sadow knew he could stay whenever but Eden was their number one priority. “We’d love to stay, but Eden needs our help. We will be back soon Sako. Ikari lets go!” Ikari and Sadow go back to Eden while Sako began to put posters in different worlds and neighborhoods to populate his town. For now he only has 100 citizens, however his numbers grow each day. Sako went from a rookie to a powerful leader in only 1000 years. Sako was only at the beginning of his journey. “I train everyday to become stronger and more powerful, my name is Sako and I am the protector of Dawn now and forever!”
