Closing her eyes, Arabella stepped forward, accepting the darkness and pain inside her.
As she moved deeper into the abyss of the unknown, she gasped. She suddenly realized the darkness didn’t seem as cold as she once thought. In fact, it was welcoming, almost friendly.
With a shuddering breath, Arabella embraced the shadows surrounding her, finding a strength within herself she never knew existed.
Silence enveloped her, its thunderous echo pulsing within her heart more beautiful than she could ever imagine or describe.
Yes, she thought, a small, triumphant smile creeping slowly across her face, I can protect them now.
