"I don't believe you."

"Like you got a choice."

"Always."

"Yeah, well ... keep telling yourself that."

He stood, brushed off his jeans, and strode purposefully for the concrete stairs.

"Wait!" She called; too late.

He was gone: up to the street.

"Damn liar!" She muttered. "He gotta know I know."

"Lydia?"

She whirled, startled.

"Oh! Bobby! Scared the bejesus outta me, boy! Don't come up on a person like that."

"Sorry. You seen T?"

"He just left. We had words."

"Over that Joey deal?"

"How'd you hear about that?"

"How 'bout them Cowboys!"

"You losers stick together, doncha?"

"Yup."
