Room 404 Echo

spooky story

By ABDOPublished 3 months ago 3 min read

Synopsis: On a stormy night, a curious young man decides to enter an abandoned room at the end of an old hotel corridor. He discovers that some doors, once opened, never close, and that the walls hold the spirits of those who entered and never left.

It was past midnight when Wissam stood before the weathered wooden door. The old hotel was nearly deserted, and rumored to hold a dark secret in room 404 at the end of the corridor—a secret that had led the management to lock it with iron chains since the 1980s. But Wissam, a young man who didn't believe in superstitions, carried a small pair of wire cutters and a burning desire to explore. The air was cold and heavy with the scent of death and oblivion, and the long corridor seemed to close in on him with every step he took toward the unknown.

With a faint metallic sound, the rusty chains snapped and fell to the wooden floor. He pushed the door open slowly, and it creaked, a sharp sound like a stifled human cry of pain. The room was shrouded in darkness, and the air was thick with the suffocating smell of dampness and ancient dust. He switched on his phone's flashlight, only to find that all the furniture was covered in tattered white fabrics that looked like forgotten shrouds. In the very center of the room stood a huge, full-length mirror with a bronze frame intricately carved with strange, eerie symbols that sent shivers down his spine.

Wissam approached the mirror hesitantly. He shone his phone's light on it, but the reflection was anything but natural. His shadow moved a full second behind his actual movements. A chill ran down his spine, and he felt cold breath on his neck. He tried to back away and escape, but his feet were rooted to the spot. Suddenly, the phone's light went out completely, plunging him into an eerie silence. He could only hear the frantic pounding of his heart, which seemed to burst from his chest with terror.

From within the darkness, he began to hear a cacophony of whispers, incomprehensible words swirling and growing louder, culminating in shouts. Suddenly, his phone screen lit up automatically, revealing a terrifying scene: the reflection in the mirror wasn't just Wissam's. A dark, featureless creature stood directly behind him, its shadowy hand slowly reaching for his shoulder. With a piercing scream, Wissam spun around, but there was no one there. The room was completely empty and eerie.

When he looked back at the mirror, he was utterly stunned, his blood running cold. He no longer saw the real room, but himself trapped inside the glass, screaming bitterly and pounding his fists desperately against the cold surface, while the dark creature stood in the real room, grinning with distorted features visible in the darkness. Wissam realized, too late, that the room wasn't haunted, but a sinister trap for curious souls. The creature walked to the door and closed it quietly behind it, leaving Wissam as just another echo trapped behind the mirror's glass, forever joining the ranks of the cursed room's victims.

Things become more terrifying the more you listen at night. Remember, you are not alone; they are everywhere, watching everything. You cannot see them, but they see everything. They observe in complete silence every movement, every reaction, and every feeling of fear you experience at night. Take a deep breath and don't be afraid. Move slowly and without fear. If you hear any sound, don't run away. Face it. They feed on fear, and your fate will surely be dire if you try to escape.
