Cliche Romance that Still Makes You Fall in Love

By Ari Setiawan Published 3 years ago 3 min read

This romantic comedy drama, based on a Webtoon, tells the story of Shin Ha Ri (Kim Sejeong) who is asked to replace her best friend, Jin Young Seo (Seol In Ah) on a blind date. Unexpectedly, her blind date is Kang Tae Moo (Ahn Hyo Seop), the CEO of the company where she works. Kang Tae Moo is the grandson of Kang Da Koo (Lee Deok Hwa) who is always forced to get married quickly. In order to fulfill his grandfather's wishes, Kang Tae Moo, who finally finds out that Shin Ha Ri tricked him, asks the woman for help to become a paid lover. As they come together as a fake couple, the seeds of love begin to emerge, making them both fall in love. Meanwhile, Jin Young Seo, who was reluctant to marry Kang Tae Moo, actually fell in love with Cha Seung Hoon (Kim Min Kyu), Kang Tae Moo's loyal secretary.

A cliche romance story that remains captivating

The Korean drama genre that has been introduced recently is dominated by action or mystery dramas. Not a few dramas airing in the first half of 2022 are decorated with dramas with 'heavy' stories that make the audience think hard. In the midst of the onslaught of drama that drains the concentration of Korean drama lovers, Business Proposal comes like a refreshing drink in broad daylight. The storyline is light and doesn't require guesswork, making this drama immediately soar and have a special place in the hearts of the audience. Even though there is nothing new in terms of storytelling and tends to be cliche, Business Proposal still has its own charm that makes the audience feel at home watching the 12 episodes they have.

The Acting of the Players Steals Attention

Business Proposal, which is an adaptation of a Webtoon entitled The Office Blind Date, tells a cliche romance story that has been used by many other Korean dramas. Even though the story seems 'market', this drama is still interesting because of the chemistry between the players, especially the four main players. Kim Sejeong deserves a thumbs up thanks to her acting as the cheerful Shin Ha Ri. He succeeded in making the mood of this drama more cheerful with his character. Ahn Hyo Seop also deserves a lot of praise for his role as Kang Tae Moo. Even though some comments said his gestures were similar to male characters in other dramas, Ahn Hyo Seop was ultimately able to prove that he is an actor to be reckoned with. The second lead couple, Seol In Ah and Kim Min Kyu, also succeeded in stealing attention with their characters' love story which is both adorable and irritating. Not only that, the supporting players in this drama also play well and get the right storytelling even though there aren't many episodes in this drama. Another interesting thing is the visuals of this drama which are pleasing to the eye. The bright colors that always appear in every scene make this drama feel more alive. The mixture of animation in several scenes is also a unique aspect that makes this drama even more arousing.

One of the Best Romantic Comedy Dramas of the Beginning of This Year

As mentioned above, Business Proposal is one of the romantic dramas that attracts attention amidst the broadcast of other, more serious genres. This drama has a light story, beautiful visuals, and is suitable to watch as entertainment when you are tired. Even though there is a dull effect after watching, Business Proposal is one of the best Korean dramas in early 2022 which is a shame to miss.
