When she walked down the trail it appears she was not aware of the danger that could await her. Her blazing red hair blew in the wind as though it was singing a song. Each step she took was effortless in its stride. As she hummed the birds seem to sing merrily along with her. All was well with her however not in the world. Just around the bend there was trouble the type you cannot described. A dark time was just ahead of her and she would need all of the strength she had inside to survive.

The sun was shining ever so brightly and covered her like a blanket. Just warm enough so she did not need a cloak. The bright red lace shawl was just enough to keep the wind from feeling cool on her shoulders. Merrily she strode without a care in the world. Picking wild flowers along the trail to give to her grandmother when she arrived at her home. Her mom had baked a small batch of tea cakes for her visit with her grandmother.

She was just about 50 feet from her destination when the sky suddenly turned dark and foreboding. The wind began to blow fiercely and the rain started to pour down upon her. Her dewy skin began to go pale and each step was more difficult to make. She could see her grandmother’s cottage just ahead however it seemed miles away due to the storm. As she pushed against the wind her feet felt like heavy weights she could hardly lift them. Now she was at her grandmother’s door fighting against the wind to open the door. “Grandma, she cried out! I am here to with tea cakes from mom and flowers.” The cottage was deadly silent as if she had entered a tomb. No response from her grandmother not a peep. Red cried out to her grandma again! She could barely hear her grandmother’s faint cry, “Red is that you dear?” Yes grandma, it’s me! I am going to set the kettle on for tea then make us a tray. “Thank you my dear girl. You are so sweet to brave the horrible storm to visit me today.”

As Red entered her grandmother’s bedroom she noticed how dark it was she could barely see anything in the room. A small slither of light peeked between the shades that covered the windows. Her grandmother always had the curtains open allowing in lots of sunlight. Grandma’s voice was very low in pitch this was odd due to her grandmother was a very petite woman with a tiny soft voice. As Red placed the tray on the table by her bed she smelled something that was foul. This was not her grandmother she thought. Red a trained marine combat drill sergeant took the knife she had in the back of her belt and flung into action. She pushed the monsters head back and plunged the knife into its chest with a twist she opened a large gash in the its chest and began to move the blade upward. The monster caught by surprised jolted backwards and blood began to gush from its throat. Red swung around and from behind pulled the monsters by its hair moving the knife upward and across severed its head from its body. Her tiny grandmother was inside the creature trying to escape. In her small hands she had a paring knife. She had been peeling an apple when the monster attacked her. As the monster attempted to swallow her she stabbed its throat from the inside with the paring knife. As the blood, guts and bile rushed from the foul beast grandma was able to push herself out onto the floor. Red then assisted her to the bathroom to help her wash the muck from her body.

“Red I am so glad your parents didn’t stop you from going into the military.” Red smiled at her grandmother and helped her get into some clean clothes. “You put up a great fight grandma! That thing never thought you would poke it from the inside the way you did.” Red called the sheriff and reported the incident. Then the two of them went into the kitchen to eat tea cakes and drank tea waiting for authorities to arrive.
