The rooster crows and the sunrise came over the old barn. The morning started out like any another normal day. Waking up at the same time as normal. Turning to see his face and noticing that he wasn’t there. There was something different today: silence. This felt unsettling as the farm never is like this. The house was lifeless and void. No footsteps walking around in the kitchen and no coffee brewing to engulf the house with its intoxicating aroma. The smell of his pillowcase made the urgency of finding him more real. Running down the stairs to see what was going on in a panic, and with every second going by grew more of urgency.

The kitchen was lifeless and felt cold with the back door open. Racing thoughts emerge: Why was the door open? Is this really happening? Where is he? Did something happen to him? The only thing to do was to look around the house to see if he was around. Married to him for fifty years, and every moment together was priceless. The only thing to find was no one else the house. The only place left to look was outside in the barn where the horse and other animals are.

The only thing is him and to see if he is not in trouble. Life without him is the last thing to imagine about. Walking out the door and the dog running to the house to greet you. The growing concern and sense of the love of your life is in danger is growing more. Thinking about the wedding day that happened just fifty years ago today in that old barn. A new beginning and the family that was created after that day. The joy and excitement that the family is and what is will be in the future for years to come is amazing to think about.

Closing the back door, the sounds of the animals from the barn was growing louder and louder with every second. The wondering sounds of the barn and the farm coming to life is amazing. The noises from the barn became increasingly pronounced. The long walk to the barn feels like an eternity, but the companionship of the dog was so comforting

As the creak of the old barn opens, the anxiety is running high with what will be seen. A light goes on and family members jump up saying: Surprise. Never in the wildest dreams this be happening that all the family would be in one spot where it all began. There were family from far away in different countries that traveled days and weeks to get to this barn are here. In the far way back of the barn, the love of your life is smiling back. He planned this all for an anniversary gift. The joy of having all the family under one roof is amazing, and the ability of not sharing it with you each must have hard for him. All the kids and the grandchildren were here and the joy to see young love in the next generation is priceless.

The oldest grandson stopped the party to ask if he can keep this tradition live for future years and marry his soon to be bride today in this barn. The couple smiled at each other, and both without hesitating said yes. As they heard the young couple make the same vows fifty years they did, the same love was in their eyes. Making love and family a tradition that will always come first to this family. The family both young and old were laughing and smiling the whole day making new memories that will last forever.
