Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth II has ruled over England since 1952, making her the longest-reigning monarch in English history. She was born on April 21, 1926, and grew up as the only child of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. She married Philip Mountbatten on November 20, 1947, and they had two children together – Prince Charles and Princess Anne – before he passed away in February of [20XX]. Her coronation took place on June 2, 1953, when she was 27 years old.

The rise to fame

Queen Elizabeth ascended to the throne of England on February 6, 1952. Since then, she has accomplished many great feats for her nation, from a successful military campaign during World War II to becoming the head of Commonwealth for over fifty years. The Queen will continue her work for England as long as she lives.

The early years

Born as Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary of York on April 21, 1926, she was just 10 years old when her uncle, King Edward VIII, abdicated the throne to marry American Wallis Simpson. Three years later, she ascended to the throne upon her father's death. Through World War II and The Great Depression, Queen Elizabeth stayed steadfastly devoted to building a better future for her people.

World War II through her coronation

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born on April 21, 1926, to Prince Albert and Princess Elizabeth. World War II was going on during her childhood so many of her family members had to go into hiding for safety. On November 20, 1947, she married Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey and went back to Buckingham Palace. Shortly after her coronation in 1952, she ascended to the throne as Queen of England when King George VI died that same year. In 1997 she became the longest reigning British monarch; still reigns today

Reigning since 1952

-At age 25, she became Queen when her father George VI died of lung cancer on February 6th, 1952.

-On October 20th 1953, at Westminster Abbey, she married Prince Philip of Greece.

-She is the only living head of state from World War II to still be reigning as monarch.

-To date, she has two grandsons; Prince William and Prince Harry who will inherit the throne after her (unless they take a wife who gives birth to a son).

-Her personal motto is I will give my people the best that I can give them. She often sees herself as a role model for those people around her.

The Royal Family

In 1953, Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne following her father's death. Born of royal blood, she was raised to serve her country. From a young age, she took part in ceremonies while growing up alongside her sister Margaret, with whom she would later share an increasingly strained relationship.

Elizabeth was extensively trained for her future responsibilities as monarch of one of the world's most well-known countries. She is hardworking and caring, compassionate with those less fortunate than herself. Despite divorce from Prince Philip, she has established herself as an icon for many years to come through dedication to her family and country. To this day she is beloved by many and accomplished in many ways despite being both human and revered figure all at once.

Continued popularity into old age

Throughout her reign, Queen Her Majesty has shown that she is both influential and loved by the people of England. She will be remembered as someone who became an instant icon upon her coronation; as well as a woman who never lost sight of her human qualities even after sitting on a throne for nearly 70 years. She may no longer be able to carry out all of her duties due to old age, but she will always have a place in our hearts.
