Provoking Divine Intentions
Always a bigger fish out there. Always a bigger goal in mind.
"How much longer must we wait, father?"
"We must wait till after the rains recede," he turned, stroking his beard.
"Do you seriously think that we'll survive with that thing on board?"
"Have faith, that is all."
"I have faith, but also common sense!"
"Relax, Shem. I am not fearless. I just place my trust elsewhere. I still shudder when crossing its pen."
"Aren't you worried it'll sink us? Surely such a monstrous monstrosity must roam freely."
"No doubt, I'm concerned, but I'm more concerned about what's out there meeting what's in here. That's why it's best to feed the one we have sweet meat and wine, keeping it aslumber."
THOOM!
An immense force collided with the vessel, frightening all onboard, and stirring the beast. Peering over the railing, Shem's face turned pale.
"It's found us!"
"Lord have mercy." Roaring from within, their main occupant stirred. "Shem, lower the gates. Best open a hole than for one to be made."
Stepping out into the light on the wooden deck, its tusks proceeded before it. Bellowing out, the waters shook and the skies cleared. Silence...
From the stern its adversary leapt from the waters, slithering expediently, coiling around the behemoth's body.
"What does he want, father?"
"During the flooding I was informed leviathan's mate was killed, but," upon closer inspection, Noah realized, "no. It's not a he anymore."
"What do you mean?"
"She's not here looking for a fight, but for the strongest male in the world."
"That means?"
"She's breeding."
