She stares through the glass outside of the nursery, eyes blotchy and red, hair disheveled, clutching her aching belly.

Her hollow belly.

In her hand, she clings tightly to the tiny pair of knitted slippers she'd chosen for the occasion and wonders where is the meaning in all of this.

She has no use for the precious shoes now.
