Once upon a time, there lived a very cute, very loveable little dog. Her name was Pebbles. She was the cutest little dog in the whole kingdom. Everyone loved Pebbles, for she was so nice and so kind to all. Animals from all over the kingdom would travel from far just to come to play with Pebbles and her new toys. She was so loved and she so loved everyone, that after a long day of playing she would give everyone she played with a new toy. After so much playing Pebbles always had to clean up the big mess that would be left behind by all of her kingdom friends. No one ever stayed to help her clean and that would make Pebbles very sad. She thought that because everyone loved her and because she always gave everyone a toy that they would stay behind and help her clean too. But no one ever did. Of course, this didn’t stop Pebbles from treating everyone with love and kindness. “No matter what, they are all still my friends.” Pebbles says with so much joy. One morning when it was time for Pebbles to awaken from a long night’s rest, she heard knocking, she stretched all of her little tiny limbs and ran down to answer the door. “I wonder who it could be this early in the morning?” Pebbles asked herself. As she pulled open her front door, she poked her little head out with a big smile. “Good morning, how can I help you?” Pebbles asked happily. And there in front of her was someone new, someone, she had never seen before. It was another small dog. “Hi, I’m Daisy, I’m your new neighbor from one kingdom down.” She grinned. Pebbles stared at Daisy for a few seconds, then smiled and reached out a paw, “lovely to meet you, my name is Pebbles, welcome to my enchanted kingdom.” Pebbles replied. “Would you like to come in? It’s a little early, not quite time for all my guests to arrive but you are welcome to join me for breakfast if you like.” Daisy looked at Pebbles as she walked past her to enter her very beautiful home. Pebbles closed the door and walked past Daisy to lead the way to the kitchen. As she passed, she noticed Daisy looking at her up and down and not in a very nice way at all. But as we know Pebbles is a very kind dog, so she just continued to walk and talk. She explained to Daisy how she has all of her friends from all over the kingdom to come play with her and her toys every day. Daisy watched and listened as Pebbles went on and on about all of her good deeds and how much everyone loves her. As Pebbles continued talking, Daisy started to not like Pebbles more and more. “I think I better be leaving now!” Daisy shouted over Pebbles while she spoke. “Leave? Why you will not be attending my gathering today?” Pebbles asked with such concern. Daisy told Pebbles that she had to take care of her very sick mom and that is why she couldn’t stay. Pebbles walked Daisy to the door and out the gate and told her to have a very lovely day. “Well, she was very nice.” Pebbles told herself. Pebbles hurried back up into her house and continued to get everything ready for all of her friends.

It was such a wonderful day, and so many friends of all sorts showed up to play with Pebbles. There was a family of small birds, Sunny, Blue, Snowball, Runt, and Goldie. There were also so many dogs of all sizes, Buttercup, Smokey, Max, Sadie, Latara, Bubbles, and Bobo. Pebbles really liked Bobo and Runt, “boy are they nice.” Pebbles says to Buttercup. “Yes, they are nice, they always let me pick a toy first.” Buttercup says as she licks her paw. Everyone continues to play and have lots of fun outside. Pebbles sits watching all her friends playing and laughing. Yet she wonders what Daisy could be doing right now. Back home, Daisy is with her sister Casey. And she tells Casey all about how she does not like Pebbles one bit. Casey tilts her head to one side, “why?” She asks. Daisy turns and looks at her sister. “Why? What do you mean why?” Daisy loudly barks. “Have you met Pebbles? What is there to like about her?” Casey looks at Daisy so confused. “Well, yes I have and I like her, she’s always nice to me and to everyone else. And she gave me this toy the last time I was there.” Casey says with such joy. Daisy shakes her head and walks away from her sister. Daisy walks around their home, thinking of ways to steal all of Pebbles’ toys. So that way no one will like her anymore. She walks and walks and tries to think of ways to hurt Pebbles’ feelings. Back at Pebbles’ home, everyone is running around barking and having so much fun. There is no time to be walking around thinking over there. It starts to get a little dark outside so everyone starts to gather their things to head home. Once again, as Pebbles says bye to all of her friends it doesn’t look like anyone will stay behind to help her clean. “Maybe that is what friends are for?” She wonders. Pebbles thinks that because they are her friends she should have no problem cleaning up all of their mess. Pebbles is sure they would all do the same if it were their house. And soon enough it will be another day. But this day Pebbles is sure to ask all her friends if they would clean their house all alone if she made a mess. Once again, all her friends show up ready to play. “Hi, Pebbles. Another beautiful day to play outside?” Buttercup states. Pebbles looks at Buttercup with a smile, “why yes, it is, it is indeed.” Everyone is having fun as usual, but this time a new face appears. It’s Daisy. Pebbles sees Daisy from across the yard. She runs over to her so happy to see her new friend. “Hello Daisy, I am so glad you could come today!” Pebbles says excitedly. “Everyone, this is Daisy and she is new to our neck of the woods. Everyone say hello.” All turn to see who this Daisy is. They run up to greet their new friend, all but one, Bubbles. Bubbles stays behind to talk with Pebbles. “Oh, Pebbles I must warn you about Daisy, she isn’t very nice. You shouldn’t trust her with any of your toys, they will all end up torn or missing.” Pebbles looks at Bubbles with great concern. “Oh no that’s horrible. But no, it couldn’t be.” Pebbles refused to believe that her new friend could be so mean. As the day flies by and all begin to leave, Bubbles and Daisy seem to both stay behind. As Daisy is picking up toys to help Pebbles, Pebbles sees Bubbles walking over to her. “Remember what I said Pebbles.” She says to Pebbles as she walks past. Pebbles walks around gathering toys left on the ground and places them in her giant bin. But as she is putting her toys away, she notices one missing. And not just anyone, her favorite toy. Pebbles hurried back and forth all around searching for her toy, her cute little crab toy. Oh, how she loves that toy, but it is nowhere to be seen. Then she remembers what Bubbles said. “Don’t trust Daisy with your toys, they will all end up torn or missing.” Pebbles stops running around and looks for Daisy, but where could she have gone, she was just here. Suddenly she sees her from the corner of her eye, she was coming out of the house. But she had nothing in her mouth. She couldn’t have taken Pebbles’ toy. Could she? Pebbles wondered. What should Pebbles do now? She doesn’t want to hurt Daisy’s feelings by asking her and having it sound like she’s blaming her for taking it. But Pebbles needs to know where her toy was. “Oh, what am I to do?” Pebbles asked herself. She decides to keep looking for it all on her own and not to ask Daisy anything at all. Days have now gone by and still no sign of Pebbles’ toy crab. Pebbles is so sad she doesn’t invite any of her friends over. And not only has her crab gone missing but her second favorite toy has gone missing as well, her musical cupcake that her very good friend, Bubbles had given her long ago. This makes Pebbles very sad and now she doesn’t even want to play anymore. Well, back at Daisy’s home, Daisy is laughing and playing with the two new toys that she so recently found. A crab and a musical cupcake. These toys make Daisy so happy because she knows how much Pebbles loves them. Casey sits across the room watching as Daisy plays and plays with toys that aren’t even hers to play with. “What?” Daisy barks loudly at her sister. “Why do you keep watching me? I did nothing wrong; these are my new toys and I deserve new toys too!” Daisy says as she pouts. Casey shakes her head in disappointment. “Pebbles is a good dog and I know she would have given you a lot of new toys if you just asked.” Daisy looks at her sister with angry eyes. Casey has no idea what she’s talking about, Daisy thinks to herself. It has been months and still Pebbles has not had any playtime at her house at all. All she does now is sleep or cry. Oh, how she misses her toys. All her other toys don’t matter to her at all. Pebbles would give all of her toys away for just these two toys, her most favorite toys. What could she do? She’s looked everywhere, all over the house, inside and out. Still no crab, and no musical cupcake. As days, weeks and months go by Daisy becomes bored with the toys she took from Pebbles. She sits at home looking out the window with her sister remembering how much fun it was to play at Pebbles’ house. They both miss that so much. But what can Daisy do now, it’s too late to give the toys back, right?

One night Daisy hears a knock on her door. Knock, knock, knock. She wonders who it could be so late at night. It’s almost 8:30, it's bedtime, who could it be? As Daisy gets closer to the door, she sees that her sister has already opened the door. Casey is talking to someone but Daisy cannot make out the voice just yet. As reaches the door she sees Bubbles walking in as Casey steps aside to let her in. “Well, what brings you to my house this late at night? Uninvited.” Daisy asks in a mean and rude voice. Bubbles looks at Daisy and continues to talk to Casey and altogether ignores Daisy. She is talking to Casey about Pebbles and how sad she has been these past months. And all because of her missing toys. “Oh, I would be really sad too if someone took my toys without asking,” Casey says as she looks at Daisy. Daisy scuffs and sits down across from Bubbles. “Why are you here? I don’t know what happened to Pebbles’ toys.” Daisy says to Bubbles. And just as Bubbles was about to respond to Daisy, something catches the corner of her eye. There it sat with all its cuteness, Pebbles’ cupcake. Bubbles looks at Daisy but says nothing about the toy being right there on the floor next to her. “So, you have no clue as to where Pebbles’ toys might be? No clue at all?” Bubbles asks already knowing the answer. Daisy looks at Bubbles annoyed. “No, I do not!” She barks. “Now if you could kindly leave my house and never come back again!” Daisy says as she walks behind Bubbles closely. Bubbles knows the toys are here but she isn’t sure if she should say anything yet or go tell Pebbles. What would you do? The next day Pebbles gets a visit of her own from Bubbles but this time Buttercup, Bobo, Latara, Runt, Sadie, and all her friends are with Bubbles. They wanted to go by and tell Pebbles how much they miss her and how much they want to play with her again. Pebbles begins to cry just a little bit. She cannot believe how many wonderful friends she actually has. And all this time she thought they just loved her for her toys. All they wanted was to play with her and see her happy. So, it doesn’t really matter the kinds of toys you have, it’s how you treat others that matters.

Casey decides to grab Pebbles’ toys when Daisy isn’t looking and take them back to Pebbles. She misses her friends too and she will not let her grumpy sister make someone cry all because she is mean and jealous. So off Casey goes to Pebbles’ house with her toys. “I have to do what’s right not what Daisy wants because she’s mean,” Casey says. Now everyone is at Pebbles’ house having fun and playing nicely together. All while mean and grumpy Daisy is at home all alone with no friends and no toys to play with. All because she wanted to be mean and make Pebbles cry. Daisy walks around her house as she starts to get sad thinking about all the fun she could be having. Instead, she is alone. “What should I do?” Daisy asks herself. “I don’t like Pebbles, I don’t want to say sorry and give her back her toys, I want those toys, I deserve those toys.” She convinces herself. Yet all she could think of is all the fun she could be having. Daisy walks around her house looking for her sister. She wants to ask her sister what to do. But where could she be? Daisy thinks and thinks. She couldn’t possibly be at Pebbles’ house. Pebbles is so sad and hasn’t done anything for a long time now. She decides to go see for herself anyway. As Daisy gets closer to Pebbles’ home, she sees so many of Pebbles’ friends running and playing and she even sees Pebbles. “How could this be? Pebbles is sad because I have her toys.” Daisy wonders in confusion. Just then she sees Pebbles jumping for joy and running around really fast. What could have made her so happy? Then Daisy sees why, she sees her toys in Pebbles’ mouth. There was her crab and her musical cupcake, in Pebbles ‘mouth. How could this be? How did she get them back? Daisy then turns her head slightly and sees her sister besides all the other dogs smiling and wagging her tail in such delight. “My own sister went behind my back and stole my toys! How could she?” Daisy was so angry. As she walked faster and faster to reach Casey and the others. She begins to slow down as she sees everyone’s face light up as they all look at Pebbles running around so happy, so full of life. Daisy then realizes that no one loved Pebbles because of what she could give them but because of how nice she was no matter how bad she was treated. Pebbles was truly loved. Daisy began to cry and was about to turn around to leave when Pebbles ran up to her so quickly. “I forgive you, Daisy.” Pebbles said to her. Daisy looks up at her with tears in her eyes. How could she forgive me, she thought, I was so mean and jealous? How? Daisy looked at Pebbles when all of a sudden everyone ran up and started to play all around Daisy. Daisy now sees that being nice to others is all that matters. And if you are nice to others then everyone will love you too.
