Our First Meet

My mind was blown

On the birth of my beautiful son, I felt like I was meeting an old friend.

From the first moment I held him in my arms, he looked at me and smiled. Unheard of for a newborn babe.

As I placed him on his tummy to lay, he immediately lifted his little head to look at me with those wise grey eyes.

Again this was unheard of, newborns don’t have the strength in their neck to do such a thing.

I was sure that my beautiful boy was an old soul in a young body.

He’d definitely been here before!

I was challenged to write a drabble of the word 'young'.

Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :

A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
