They say nobody can hear you scream in the vacuum of space. Yet the scream Cybel heard reverberating through her skull was all too real. Answering the scream with her own, Cybel keeled over in agony, clutching her head for fear that it would burst. Gritting her teeth, Cybel looked up at the overhead monitor and watched a replay of her handiwork: a silver starship blossoming into flame.
What should have been Cybel’s greatest triumph was obliterated by excruciating psychic pain, together with the more painful realization that Phrix, her twin brother, her other half, had been on board.
