The sun was slowly setting as Luca walked through the streets of Nova Roma. Above him, colorful lights flew from the hovering cars, and in the distance the tall towers of the city flashed. But Luca hardly had time to enjoy the beautiful lights today. He had discovered something important.

A few hours ago, he had gone to the old factory – an abandoned building that had previously built machines. Actually, he only wanted to test his invention there, but then he found something else: secret plans. On the blue papers were drawings of a huge machine that looked very different from anything Luca had ever seen.

"What's that?" he whispered, looking at the intricate lines and gears. A voice behind him made him wince.

"You shouldn't have seen that!"

Luca quickly turned around and saw a man in dark clothes running away. His heart began to beat faster. Who was that? And why was he afraid that Luca had seen these plans?

Luca knew that he could not be left alone with this secret. He had to get his friends Mia and Jonas. They were always smart and courageous – together they were able to find out what Marcus, the powerful man in Nova Roma, was up to.

At the meeting point, Luca told everything. Mia frowned. "If that's true, the city is in great danger," she said quietly. Jonas nodded gravely. "We have to act quickly. But how?"

"First," Luca said resolutely, "we need to find out more about this machine. I want to visit my grandfather's laboratory. There may be clues there." His friends looked at him in surprise, but also full of trust.

"Okay," Mia said, "we'll do this together. We won't let Marcus win!"

And so the adventure began – in the middle of the shining city of Nova Roma, where the future hung in the balance.

Luca, Mia and Jonas crept through the dark streets of Nova Roma. The colorful lights of the city were far away, down here it was quiet and cool. They only had a small flashlight to find their way to the old laboratory.

"We have to hurry," Luca whispered. "Marcus won't take long to find out that we know his plans."

Suddenly, they heard quick footsteps behind them. "Damn, we're being followed!" whispered Jonas, pulling his jacket tighter around him.

"Come on, quick!" Mia shouted and led the group into a narrow alley. They ran as fast as they could, their hearts beating loudly in the silence of the night.

The pursuers were strong and fast. They were men in dark clothes, just like the man Luca had seen in the factory. "We mustn't get caught!" gasped Mia.

Luca had an idea. "This way!" He turned into an old tunnel that hardly anyone knew. Jonas followed him closely, and Mia made sure they didn't fall behind.

The tunnel was dark and damp, but they had no other choice. The steps of the pursuers became weaker. After a while, the group stopped and took a deep breath.

"Phew, I think we're rid of them," Jonas said relieved.

"For the moment, perhaps," Luca said seriously. "But Marcus won't give up. We have to be careful."

"What are we going to do now?" asked Mia.

"We're going to my grandfather's lab. I might find something there to help us stop the machine," Luca replied resolutely.

With new hope, the three friends set off. The adventure became more and more dangerous, but they knew that they were strong together.

After a long walk, Luca, Mia and Jonas finally reached the hidden laboratory. It lay deep in a forgotten part of Nova Roma, between ancient ruins and overgrown streets. The door was heavy and creaked when Luca carefully opened it.

"Wow," Mia whispered as she looked inside. "Everything feels so different here. Almost like in another time."

Luca entered first. The lab was full of old machines, tools, and lots of notebooks. It belonged to his grandfather, an inventor who disappeared many years ago. Luca felt a mixture of sadness and hope.

"Maybe we'll find something here that will help us," he said quietly and began to leaf through the notebooks.

Then he discovered a drawing that resembled the machine Marcus had built. But the note also said how to stop it – with a special source of energy that could only be in Nova Roma.

"This is our chance!" shouted Luca excitedly. "If we find that energy, we can stop Marcus."

Mia nodded. "But we have to be fast. He will not wait."

Jonas looked around cautiously. "And we have to be careful that no one finds us here. Marcus must have spies in the city."

Suddenly they heard a noise—a soft click outside the door. Luca jumped up and pushed an old cupboard in front of it.

"Someone's trying to get in!" he whispered nervously.

"We have to hide," Mia said quickly. They slid behind a large table and held their breath. The

door opened slowly, but no one came in. After a while, the danger left the laboratory.

"That was close," Jonas said, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"We have to make our plans now," Luca said seriously. "This is just the beginning."

In the old lab, Luca, Mia and Jonas sat around the big table. His grandfather's notes were in front of them, and outside the sun was slowly beginning to rise. The air was calm, but a storm was raging in their heads.

"So," Luca began, "we now know that Marcus wants to run the machine with a dangerous energy source. If we find this energy first, we can stop it."

Mia nodded and said, "But this energy source is hard to find. It lies deep below the city, in the ancient catacombs. Nobody dares to go there."

Jonas looked serious. "We need help. We can't do it alone."

Luca sighed. "I know. But who can we trust? Marcus has his people everywhere."

"What about the residents from the old quarter?" asked Mia. "Many of them know the city like the back of their hand. Maybe they will help us."

"Good idea," Luca answered. "We have to convince them to participate. Together we are stronger."

They planned their steps carefully: First, they wanted to go to the old quarter to find allies. Then they would enter the catacombs and secure the power source before Marcus' people caught them.

"It's going to be dangerous," Jonas warned. "We have to be very careful."

"We have no choice," Luca said resolutely. "If we don't do anything now, Marcus will destroy the city."

The friends exchanged resolute glances. The adventure became bigger than ever, and it was up to them to save Nova Roma.

The night was dark when Luca, Mia and Jonas found the hidden entrance door to the catacombs with a group of brave residents of the old quarter. The air was damp and cold, and only the faint dripping of water could be heard.

"Stay together," Luca whispered. "We don't know what to expect."

Slowly they descended into the deep tunnels. Every step echoed in the darkness. Suddenly they heard a rustling. "Marcus' guardian!" whispered Mia.

The group hid behind a large stone pillar while the armed men passed by. Luca felt his heart racing. "A few more meters," he said quietly.

Finally, they reached the room with the energy source – a brightly shining crystal that shimmered mysteriously. But Marcus himself was already waiting there.

"You are brave," Marcus said coldly. "But you're too late."

A fight began. Luca and his friends struggled with everything they had. There were screams, sparks flew, and the machine began to vibrate.

Just when all seemed lost, Luca used a trick from his grandfather's laboratory. He destroyed the connection to the machine, and the power source lost its glow.

Marcus stared stunned. "No!"

With a last gasp, Marcus' guards fled. The city was saved.

Luca, Mia and Jonas were breathing heavily, but they were smiling. "We did it," Mia said.

"Yes," Luca answered. "Nova Roma has a future – because we stick together
