John was alone in the hotel room on a dark and stormy night. He was on a business trip and had just arrived at the hotel. He had planned to meet his colleagues for dinner, but the storm had made it impossible to leave.

As John sat in his room, he couldn't help but feel uneasy. The room was old and had a strange smell. The walls were thin, and he could hear every sound from the neighboring rooms. The rain was pounding against the window, making it hard for him to concentrate on his work.

As he was about to call it a night, he heard a strange noise coming from the hallway. He got up to investigate and peered through the peephole in the door. He saw a figure walking down the hallway, but he couldn't make out who it was. The person was wearing a hooded jacket and had their face covered.

John's heart started racing. He didn't know what to do. He tried to convince himself that it was just a hotel guest returning to their room, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong. He went back to his room and locked the door, hoping that whoever it was would just pass by.

But the noise continued. John could hear footsteps outside his door. He held his breath and listened. The footsteps stopped in front of his door, and John could feel his heart pounding in his chest. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

John hesitated before answering. He asked who it was, but there was no response. He asked again, and still, there was no answer. He decided to look through the peephole again. This time, he could see the figure more clearly. It was a woman, and she looked scared. She was shaking and had tears in her eyes.

John hesitated before opening the door. He didn't know if he should trust her, but he couldn't just leave her out in the hallway. He slowly opened the door, and the woman rushed inside. She was soaking wet, and her clothes were torn.

She told John that someone had been following her, and she was scared for her life. John tried to calm her down and asked her to explain what had happened. She told him that she had been walking back to her room when she noticed a man following her. She had tried to run, but he had caught up to her and attacked her.

John didn't know what to do. He couldn't just leave the woman alone, but he also couldn't leave his room. He decided to call the hotel security, but the phone was dead. He tried to use his mobile phone, but there was no signal.

The woman was getting more and more agitated. She kept insisting that they needed to leave the hotel. John finally agreed, and they headed towards the exit. As they were walking down the hallway, John heard a noise coming from one of the rooms. He could hear someone breathing heavily.

John and the woman tried to quietly make their way towards the stairs, but the noise from the room was getting louder. Suddenly, the door burst open, and a man stepped out. He had a knife in his hand, and he was covered in blood.

The woman screamed, and John froze. He didn't know what to do. The man started walking towards them, and John knew that they were in trouble. Suddenly, the lights went out, and everything went black.

John could hear the man getting closer, but he couldn't see anything. He grabbed the woman's hand and started running towards the stairs. They stumbled down the steps, not knowing where they were going.

As they reached the lobby, they could see that the receptionist was nowhere to be found. The hotel was eerily quiet, and the only sound was the storm raging outside.

John and the woman tried to find a way out of the hotel, but all the doors were locked. They realized that they were trapped inside the hotel with the man who had attacked the woman.

They decided to hide and wait for help to arrive. They found a closet and locked themselves inside. John could hear the man searching for them, calling out their names. He was getting closer, and John knew that they didn't have much time.

Suddenly, John's mobile phone started ringing. He didn't recognize the number, but he answered it anyway. It was the hotel receptionist. She told him that there was no one else in the hotel beside them. John was confused. How could that be possible?

The receptionist explained that the hotel had been closed down for renovations months ago. The hotel was supposed to be empty, and there was no way that anyone else could be inside.

John realized that the woman who had come to his room was not real. She was just a figment of his imagination, a result of his fear and anxiety. The man who had attacked her was also not real. He was just a manifestation of John's darkest fears.

John was relieved to find out that everything was just in his mind. He gathered his thoughts and decided to leave the hotel. As he stepped outside, he was greeted by the bright morning sun. The storm had passed, and the sky was clear.

John walked away from the hotel, feeling grateful that he had escaped his own nightmare. He knew that he would never forget this experience, and he would always be cautious in strange places.

From that day on, John learned to trust his instincts and never let his imagination run wild. He had come face to face with his fears and had survived. He knew that he was stronger than he had ever imagined.

As John walked towards his car, he could hear the sound of a distant thunderstorm. He smiled to himself, knowing that he had conquered his own fears and was ready to face whatever the future had in store for him.
