NASA Engineers Design an Indestructible Venus Rover
NASA has recently approved two missions to study the atmosphere and surface of Venus, after not sending a dedicated spacecraft there in more than 30 years. THEY believes that we need a presence on the ground to study the planet, and that's why NAVAIR has developed a hybrid automaton rover for use there. The rover takes a very simplified approach to standard Mars rovers, using compliant wheels to drive on the surface of Venus.
he Harvey rover is a hybrid automaton design that uses compliant wheels to drive on the surface of Venus. Stripped down, it is a simplified approach to a standard Mars rover. Venus is a much-underexplored planet, and we're constantly learning more about it thanks to the three aforementioned planets. Comparative planetology can help us extrapolate what makes the conditions for life or against life on Venus. %tone%
