My name is Lana
She needs to catch a break, not much of her life has been great, just a little bit of happiness would do.

Most people wonder why they can't seem to catch a break, I don't need to wonder, I know why. My name is Lana, let me tell you the story of my life, don't worry, I will be quick and not take too much of your time, the story is short anyway as I am only nineteen years old.
I lost my dad when I was three I think, I was very little I don't really remember much, my mom took to drinking so that at the age of ten I had to start looking after myself. Obviously I sucked at it, ate the wrong things, wore the wrong clothes and practically did everything wrong.
Now, I am sitting outside the balcony of the store where I work waiting for my break to end so I can get back in there and work my ass off for barely minimum wage, this is so unfair, I am a teenager I shouldn't have to go through life this hard, I want to live like my mate. I see them coming out of their university lecture rooms and I wonder why my life is not different, anyway here I am sitting and waiting, I would say patiently but after nine years of looking after yourself you then run out of patience.
It is 12 0'clock already, I guess I have to get back to work now. I step into the supermarket and see a long line of people that I have to ring up their goods and take their payment, at the end of the line I see Her. She has perfectly styled hair, from the look of her clothes you would know they were expensive, her nails were manicured, she just looked perfect, she was on the phone with her friend, I think, she seemed so happy, she was laughing a lot and smiling, like she had no worries in the world, at that moment I felt a wave of jealousy hit me, she had everything I wanted and she wore it with pride.
I wasn't asking for too much out of life I just wanted a little bit of happiness, something to feel up my days instead of the same routine I run with everyday, I wondered if the girl at the end of the line knew anything else apart from the blissful life she obviously portrayed, I knew my life would not always be like this but I needed a break, just a little something to fill up my time, if I could make a friend, I would be glad but unfortunately my age mates didn't see me as a potential friendship candidate as I was so "uncool".
On the outside, I put up a front that loudly screamed I don't care if you don't like me, but on the inside I just needed one person on my side.
I didn't even notice, I was so lost in thought, living in head, that I didn't realize I had been bagging other people order until she was right in front of me, she smiled at me and said "hi", I was surprised, most people her age that come in from the university close by spoke to me in a condescending and rude manner, but she, she was so polite and nice, I was shocked and intrigued by her, she was at the end of the line so, she started telling me of a girl in her class who cheated on their last test and got caught, the conversation was so out of the blue that I didn't really know what to say, I said somethings that I don't recall, but she didn't seem to mind, she just kept talking to me and I knew right that moment that she would be my very first friend. One her way out of the store I yelled at her "My name is Lana", she looked back and smiled.
