Once an old owl came to live in the mango tree of my garden. The mango tree was very big and many birds like crows, sparrows, mainas, etc lived in that. The owl also took shelter in a hole on a branch of the mango tree. It was grey coloured, and so it looked very beautiful. It would sleep during the day and keep awakened throughout the night. Its hooting " hoo-hoo-hoo-oo-ooo" looked very pleasant to ears. Although other birds felt disturbed due to its hooting, but enjoyed it. Now, the owl was just like a guard to our garden house.

Mythologically, the owl is the ride of Maa Laxmi, and so it is associated with riches, prosperity and good luck. Its only sight even during the turmoil of life can bring good luck and show the right path. It knows the past and the present, so it can guide towards the right and save from unexpected troubles. Some people treat it as a harbinger of bad luck and death, but some believe that it's a carrier of prosperity and good luck.

The owl in our garden was also a lucky charm for us. Its sight would bring good luck to us. Once my grandfather was going for a trial in the court. He was badly involved in a case. At the time of leaving the house, suddenly, he had the glimpse of the owl and it played a magic. My grandfather was buried in the case during the trial. Once, I had such a good experience. It was my examination. Everyday, I would have the look of the owl before leaving the house and finally, when the result was out, I saw my name at the top position. The owl was really lucky for me.

Once, we had some financial strains. We, the whole family, were sitting together trying to find a way out of that strain. Suddenly, the owl appeared before us and in no time, all the problems were solved. Actually, we had to purchase a property and we were getting short of some money. We were extremely disturbed as how to collect that much money. But suddenly, someone sent us Rs. one lakh and our problem was solved. My mother gave its credit to the owl. Now, we regarded it as our lucky charm. My mother loved the owl a lot.

Now, before starting an important work, we would try to look for the owl. If it appeared, we would get happy and our work also would be completed successfully. Things were going easily and we all were very happy with the owl in our garden. But, unfortunately, one day, the owl got hurt somehow and it fell down on the ground. Now, it was not able to fly. We became very sad. My mother nursed it and fed it. She would look after it like a human baby. It took one week for the owl to recover. When it got well, it again flew upto the tree. Now, we were happy that our lucky charm was saved. In the meanwhile, my father got promotion and he attributed the whole credit to the owl. The owl was now like a family member for us. It's still living in our garden. We are so happy.

Nothing is auspicious or ominous in this world. It depends upon you how you take the things. Every living being is a creation of God. How can one whom God has created be ominous? His Majestic touch is enough to make something auspicious. The owl is also the creation of God. It can not be ominous. Therefore, think positive, act positive and concentrate on the bright side of things, your life will be blissful.
