My Story

Today is my birthday and I just clocked 18 but I'm on the sick bed... Few days back, all preparations towards this great epoch making celebration was on top gear. My siblings were really preparing and were always in chit-chat mood in low tones, when I step in to discuss with them, they smile and push me away. I already had an understanding that it was my birthday that they were preparing or maybe Dad's 60th Birthday. Oh did I forget to tell you, I'm celebrating my birthday same as Dad's. My mum also had her own plans and mehn we (my Dad and I was left to wallow in confusion. 26th December clicked and ticked 12am, Nickon that's me was still sleeping, cruising on my soft babyish bed I refused to put away when I clocked 10. As usual, we woke up by 5am to start our normal morning prayers but mine was different I woke up swimming in the ocean my siblings created for me... I was surprised and also annoyed but my amazement suppressed my anger. We sang and praised God as usual but today's devotion was stretched with prayers for I and my Dad, mum and my siblings poured out their being in blessing I and Dad.. We slated 1pm to do the open celebration and trust Nickon, I invited all my friends mostly guys. It was exactly 1pm and Dad's friend was the MC of the day. Many activities was achieved, dance and play. A quiz was set between I and Dad and luckily for me, I won Dad. Dad was pushed at the level of my intelligence and there he promised me a car. Wow, a car for my 18th Birthday? My siblings were happy for me and everyone was joyed. We ate, drank, danced, played and gifts were presented to me by my friends but something unfortunate happened. I'm half-dead now, writing this story that if you have an enemy, settle your differences with such a one because they are deadly. Remember I invited my friends but I saw a face I never expected to see, and that was Diche. Diche was my childhood friend from primary school days, we loved each other but something happened when we were in Primary 5. As usual during exams, we struggle to beat one another and it was fun because we never out-pass anyone but this time around, I was the best among my friends and Diche got so annoyed that she swore to make me pay for it... Since then, we became the worse of friends... Seeing her at the birthday was shocking. Though she begged me and said she has forgiven me that I should do same. We hugged and talked of old memories, after which, she handed me a box. That box exploded in my room that night that landed me on this hospital bed... I'm broken but may soon be gone. My wish and say is: I have forgiven you Diche. #Fiction
