The 2019 movie "Murder Mystery" featured Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston as Nick and Audrey Spitz, who solved the murder of billionaire Malcolm Quince (Terence Stamp) while celebrating their anniversary aboard the Orient Express. Now, in a sequel directed by Jeremy Garelick, the couple's reputation as amateur detectives precedes them. Despite their messy methods, they have gained a reputation as somewhat effective crime solvers, and audiences can look forward to seeing what kind of trouble they will get into next.

Murder Mystery 2 picks up with Nick and Audrey struggling to find clients for their fledgling detective agency. “They’re in a totally new business,” Garelick says about how the two characters have changed since the first film. To reflect this new stage in the Spitz’s journey, the director wanted this installment to stand on its own.

“There’s definitely a lot more action in this second [movie],” Garelick teases. “I tried really hard to create something that started from scratch in terms of taking a genre and a tone that existed in [Murder Mystery], but bending the rules.”
