Ten years ago, It came out of nowhere...

A mysterious black fog spread throughout the nation.

The biggest of cities.

To the smallest neighborhoods. Absolutely no one was spared.

To the dryest deserts.

To the wildest of jungles. Every nook and cranny it could get into it traveled.

With the inhale of this gas, a regular person was transformed...

Their bodies began to morph and shift, break and change, contort and distort until...

They all turned into uncontrollable beasts.

Hellbent on destruction and devastation.

Cities are ruined within days.

America crumbling within weeks. The world was in complete and utter disarray within a month.

All humanity has been lost once conforming to the mind of the beast. Though these creatures have ruined, devastated, and annihilated at least 80% of the world.

There were few...

There are those who rose above all. Even through unsurmountable odds, they prevailed. Pulling strength from wells thought long dried up.

who showed the resilience of humans, regardless of size, regardless of how many. They are the force fighting back against every single former human.

More importantly, shone a bright light in a now-dark world.

Though they come as rare as golden diamonds. They still exist. Spread all around the world.

This particular glistening diamond is some sort of "Super Sheriff."

While this very event went down, he was doing regular patrols. He caught on fast to just what was happening and was able to round up as many civilians as he could. Instructed them not to breathe the gas, and with only what was in his utility belt went out to wrangle some mega cattle. As if it were just another patrol.

This particular golden diamond resided in Tombstone Arizona. When the entirety of the world was crumbling he managed to be the gorilla glue to hold it together.

When all hope seemed to be lost, he found it and was asking for the finder's fee. When monsters as big as buildings came into his town, he became a one-man wrecking crew.

He has nothing special about him other than his determination, and his unwillingness to give in, and he's just being "done" with it all. Having his own type of "Monster Judo" which he uses to battle these creatures, with some scientific advancements from some of the scientists seeking shelter. He was able to cobble together a community willing to help him forge a better tomorrow for the generation he was helping to raise. Hopefully they were able to absorb what made him a badass Super Sheriff, discard what didn't and move forward to a brighter tomorrow.

(Author's note: So this is actually a story that I wanted to get published but I figured, maybe I'd rather release it in small bites. The entire book wasn't going to be bigger than 130 pages anyways so I really wouldn't be missing out on much. Plus I can always release it later. I am just itching to work on something, release something or else I'll go crazy hahaha!

So I have tweaked this story before, but with each chapter, I put out here I'll tweak it before I put it out just to be sure it's ready for release. I also can put these out a bit quicker since the material is already written just needs to be polished. Oh last thing, sorry about any resemblances to "Monster Children" this story might have. I made that one off before I even had the thought of releasing it on here. In my mind, I thought I was still gonna make it into short stories. But here is just as good. Anyways, till next chapter. Laters!)
