Missing

In Massachusetts

The paper attached to the post read:

"One-million-dollar reward for missing mother and two children."

Nick shoved it into his pocket and shot his brother Jack a reassuring glance. He threw on his pennywise clown mask and said,

"It's her for sure. I knew it at the grocery store."

"Let's go make a mil!" Jack replied with a struggling breath beneath his Freddy Krueger mask.

With fake guns, the two brothers jolted toward the abandoned house in the middle of the dark Massachusetts woods. They broke open the door and entered.

In the living room, a woman sat severely injured on the floor with her kids. Jack took hold of the mother's right ankle and spotted the butterfly tattoo from the photo, and said,

"It's her. Call that Tony guy."

Nick phoned the number on the flyer. The line rang twice before a coarse voice on the other end answered.

"We found your family. Cash. No police."

"Location first."

When Tony arrived, the mother and kids panicked to see him. Tony threw over the cashed- filled suitcase, but instead of the brothers running off, they beat Tony, took the injured family, and split the million dollars with them.
