Mine To Protect
Stuck in an underground cell with no way out, a spoiled shady business man’s daughter and her ex boyfriend bodyguard have no choice but to expose their true feelings for one another.
“Xavier!!” Aliyah screamed.
She was pulled into a car. Her arms holding onto the doors that were sliding to be locked shut.
“Get off me!” She shouts.
“Shut up! Just sit back and-”
The man fell limp.
Aliyah screamed as his blood splattered all over her.
“Okay what took you so long?!”
Her bodyguard climbed into the van, causing mayhem.
“I was tracking a runaway down.”
“I am not a runaway.” She snarled.
“If you aren’t then what are you?” He mused.
His smirk widening at the sight of her glare. He looked forward, a man attempting to hit him, the baseball bat collided with the roof of the van, as well as the side getting crashed into by another van.
By the time they woke up they were in an underground facility. Wet floors with open cells.
Aliyah stirred at the sound of a chain breaking. Her eyes flutter open to see Xavier cutting some chained cuffs with a sharp edge.
“What the…?”
“You’re awake?” He asked without turning around.
“Would I be awake if I was speaking?”
“Yes. You sleep talk.”
“I do no-, how would you know?” She said standing up.
He looked back and lazily smirked at her.
“Oh, love. I know.”
Her brown cheeks heat up.
“Screw you.” She said walking out of the cell.
The left and right looked like an endless wet tunnel.
“And where are we?” She snaps.
“If I knew we would be out of here.”
He ends up cutting himself loose.
“C’mon.”
“It’s in the job description to protect you, love.”
“Well you could ‘protect’ me from over there, genius.”
He held his arm out for her to take.
“I don’t want to touch you.”
“It’s been three months since you’ve been saying that.”
“And I meant that every month now.”
“Mhm.”
“What ‘mhm’?”
He scoffed walking ahead.
“Suit yourself.”
“Oh I will!”
For seconds she did. She had planned to walk the opposite way he did. But hearing the sound of footsteps and “Is our product safe?”
She ran right back towards him.
Heels swishing from the water, arms linking with his.
“Until we get out here.” She grumbled.
“Uh huh.” He said, looking away, trying to hold back a smile.
“What’s that sound…”
“Hey!” A man shouts.
“Oh snap.” Aliyah said.
Xavier threw her over his shoulder, spotting something up ahead.
On the right there was a door. Which led to more cells.
“This is endless.” She muttered.
He ran holding her up, three men chasing after them.
Aliyah grabbed a chain that was hanging loosely from a cell.
Then chucked it at them. Watching it catch onto one man’s foot and he ended up taking another man down with him.
“Damn y’all are pathetic.” She cackled.
“Says the lady that’s being carried!” A fallen man shouted.
“Aw.” She pouted.
Sticking the middle finger at them.
Seeing at the end of the hall there was a door. Xavier didn’t know what could be behind it.
He sets Aliyah down, the man running over to tackle Xavier.
He moved, watching the man fall flat on his face.
“Hm.” He chuckled.
The man got up only to be kicked down by Aliyah.
She snatched his gun.
“And you didn’t think to use it?” She asked.
“Well, I was so busy running that I forgot?”
“More like your brain is so tiny it could only focus on one thing.” She mocked.
Xavier took the gun, ignoring her gasp.
“C’mon.” He grunts. Pushing the door open.
When the other men decided to barge in, the man who’s gun got taken from him decided to play dead.
“Shit they got them?” A man said running up to them.
That’s when Xavier shoots.
Shot to the shoulder and the man fell backwards.
“And that’s how you use your weapon!” Aliyah shouts with a laugh.
They head up a ladder, pushing up a manhole.
They get out, and they’re surrounded.
“Keep our product safe. Man you can get rid of.” A man said with a blunt in his mouth. He got in a limo, while his workers moved in to get the job done.
“Yes sir!” they said in unison.
“I am not a-”
She hid behind Xavier as he shoots. They duck behind some trees. Shots ringing out.
Her hand resting on his abdomen. She reels back feeling something slick.
“Ew what is that?!”
She looked at the red coating.
“Oh my-”
He took in a deep breath, reloading as he said.
“I’m fine.”
“You’re gonna die.”
“Thank you for your very helpful input.” He grumbled.
Aliyah's eyes watered at the mere thought of losing him. She looked away, blinking off any liquid that would dare to spill out.
Aliyah looked behind them. 9 were total and only four down.
She ran out.
“Wait!”
The men's weapons were lowered.
“I’ll go.”
Xavier felt lightheaded all of a sudden.
“I think I’m gonna be bald by the time I’m 30.” He mumbled.
She took a couple steps forward the men surrounding her. One man went to go get Xavier. He tilted his head trying to spot him. But was met with a shot to the head.
She gasped.
“Oh who would have known?”
She hid behind the limo as Xavier took his shot. With every man down he came out from the shadowed trees. A man that was on the ground began to twitch. His hand reaching for his weapon.
“Oh no you don’t.” Aliyah said stomping on his hand.
His screams muffled by her words.
“It’s what you guys get for putting us through this nonsense!”
The man in the limo had his window rolled down about halfway until vehicles stormed in. Blocking the exits.
“Should’ve known cheap labor doesn’t get shit done.” He grumbled.
Xavier staggering as Aliyah ran up to him. She holds him up as her father’s assistant comes over.
“Apologies for being late, miss.” The woman said.
“Does your apology come with a trip to the hospital?”
He gave her a tight lipped smile as he led them to the car. The driver pulled to the nearest hospital.
Aliyah put her hand over his. Putting pressure on his wound.
“Stop…you’ll get your hands dirty.”
“It’s fine. I need you alive.”
“Do you now? Thought you wanted me dead. That way you’ll get another bodyguard.”
“I never said I wanted another one.” She grumbled.
His eyes lock onto hers from that.
“Mhm. Is that so?”
She blinked looking away.
“I hate you.”
“I love you.”
His hand reached over and turned her face towards his.
“Always have and always will.”
“You’re a clingy ex.” She mumbled.
“And yet you were the one that hired me.”
“How long until the hospital?” she asked the driver.
“Three minutes ma’am.” He responds.
“Do you think that’s enough?” She whispered.
“Never.” Xavier whispered back.
Their lips crashed against one another, his wound almost forgotten and a new chapter ahead of them.
