MHOS Part 6: Rediscovering who I am

My Hazbin Origin Story

By Her Ellaness♿️Published 3 months ago Updated 2 months ago 4 min read

I study myself in the shattered mirror in disbelief. My once dark brown hair is now blues and greens and moves like I'm under water, I have purple & green scales on my arms, talons on my fingers, I touch my hair and move it in the mirror and.. are those.. gills? Behind my ears.. ? I am in a purple lace dress summer dress on that goes half way down my shins. I lift my skirt up and look down at my legs to see the scales get darker as they get lower on my body, I'm afraid to take off my shoes.. I think I'll save that for later, when I find myself a place to rest my head.

I have a feeling there is no getting back to the woods from here, I don't think I'll be getting my old life back. It's time to adapt.

I unlock the bathroom door and quietly apologize a few times before making my way out the front door. "Sorry, I'm so sorry. Hey I'm sorry I shattered your mirror. The shriek is new." I say at the ones who look like they work there. Neither of them moving, one of them looks over in the direction of the bathroom emotionless for a moment, sighs, and yells "Sal, I'm getting a new mirror from the back" as everyone continues about their day as if nothing new had occurred.

A little stunned by the non-reaction, reaction, I walk out the front door and head back to the place I opened my eyes. There was fighting happening back there, pretty violent fighting at that. There are bound to be some bodies to loot. I need money, weapons, and to scout the neighborhood to find a place to hole up.

As I walked back to the place I originated from I happened across 3 bodies. I grabbed the messenger bag off one of them and emptied their pockets into the bag, grabbed a trench coat off another and managed to get my hands on a tire iron & switch blade. Now to find a building to hide in so I can investigate what I have. I need to see what I'm working with.

After walking for a few blocks I found a shed that looked like it could give me some privacy for a while and head over to it. I pour everything in the bag onto the floor and start investigating. I open the wallets and there is no ID in any of it, but there is some form of currency I've never seen before. I gather it from all three wallets and put it into one after sorting it in numerical order.

There are some ropes, a hammer, some snacks, jewelry, and there are key's with a button on it, a car alarm! I have access to a vehicle! Now I just have to find it. Ugh, now I have to go back to the same place I first opened my eyes at for the third time today! The car has to be around there somewhere, that is where the bodies were after all.

I walk back to the only familiar place I have known so far, clicking the button every few feet to see if I can't pick up on a car beeping anywhere along the way and then I hear it.

*beep*

The faintest little beep, but it was there, I ran in the direction I heard it and clicked the button again

*beep*

It's closer now! Hope began to creep in as I was finally going to have the ability to travel and hopefully, a vehicle to sleep in. I pressed the button one last time as I knew I had to be close.

*beep*

It was in a driveway!, and they keys I have, have house keys too! Fucking Jackpot! Let's hope the three that were dead on the street were all of the residents because I would LOVE to have a roof over my head for the night! As I approached the car I admired the cute little cottage it was parked in and as naturally as I could, I began fishing though the keys to look for one that might fit a front door when the neighbour came walking out with a garbage can watching me go to unlock the front door.

"Where's Gary?" the neighbour asks.

I froze for a moment before answering "Dead up the street over there.. I just.." the neighbour looks in the direction I was pointing, put the garbage can down at the end of his driveway and said "Oh, okay. Welcome to the neighbourhood." and he began walking back up his driveway.

I blinked in disbelief and said "Wait. Just like that? Welcome to the neighbourhood? Gary's dead in the street down there & I have his keys.. and it's just.. ?" The neighbour shrugged and said "Gary won't be needing the place anymore. It's how I got my place too, and will probably be how the next person gets their as well. So yeah. Welcome to the neighbourhood. And welcome to Hell, the first day is a doozy isn't it?" he said as he reached for his front door.

And I smiled.. The first smile I had smiled since I got here. "Yeah," I replied as I slide the key in the front door. "The first day is a doozy."

We both went into our prospective homes and I closed and locked the door behind me.

So.. I'm in hell, huh? And on my first day here I landed myself some money, a car, and a house. And a pretty cool neighbour.. who I met, taking the garbage out.. So I should probably look around for garbage.. in my brand new home and.. uhh.. take it out..
