Memories, dreams, thinking

Memories, dreams, thinking

In this book, Jung completely recounts his childhood, his travels and his experiences with death. He incorporated his own theories and ideas, most important of which was his questioning of Freud. He extended the physical source of absolute sexuality to the collective unconscious, the spiritual level. Genetics, legends, totems, metaphors, everything.

One of the greatest achievements of twentieth-century psychology was Freud's discovery of the unconscious mind. Freud clearly pointed out at the beginning of his article "Ego and ID" that the division of consciousness into conscious and unconscious is the basic premise of psychoanalysis; And only this premise makes it possible for psychoanalysis to explain the pathological processes of mental life - processes whose universality is as important as their importance - and to place them within the structure of science.

Freud's theory, like a lightning across the sky of the dark human heart, let us see the dark side hidden in the depths of the human heart, he tore the FIG leaf of the human heart, the ugly side of the human soul mercilessly show in front of modern people, make people shudder. Once again using scientific methods in human "egotism" on the banner, play a deep shock every person's heart question mark: "Who am I?" . However, Freud's biological theory of human nature and sexual determinism made it with great one-sidedness, so the negative part of his theory was constantly corrected, and the psychoanalytic school developed in various ways, among which the Swiss analytical psychologist Jung was the most outstanding.

As the son of a priest, Jung's family environment of faith and the great therapeutic effect of faith he witnessed in his treatment of mental illness forced him to attach importance to the role of faith in the study of human psychology, leading him to conclude that "healing can be called a religious problem." Jung was only 33 years old at the time, and in the world of psychology and psychiatry, he was best known for his discovery of complexes and the collective unconscious. The discovery of the collective unconscious, "it was Jung who broke with strict environmental determinism and demonstrated that it was evolution and heredity that provided the blueprint for the structure of the mind, just as he had provided the blueprint for the structure of the human body.

The discovery of the collective unconscious was a milestone in the history of psychology. The human mind, through its physical carrier, the brain, inherits certain properties that determine how the individual will respond to life experiences and even what types of experiences he may have. The human mind is pre-determined by evolution, and the individual is thus connected to the past, not only to the past of his childhood, It is more of a link to the past of the race, and even before that, to the long process of organic evolution. It was Jung's remarkable achievement to establish this place of the mind in the evolutionary process.

The idea that the mind is in-itself and for itself, and that there is a self-sufficient system of the mental world, is the only proper assumption for the belief in the spontaneity and individuality of the soul, and yet this idea is at least unpopular among us. Since we know nothing of the manner in which mental events arise from matter, and yet cannot deny their authenticity, we are free to construct our assumptions in the other direction, and to think that mental events arise from a spiritual origin which, like matter, is as elusive to our understanding as matter.

The human unconscious also contains all the ways of living and behaving inherited from its ancestors, so that every human child possesses an underlying system of adaptive mental functions before becoming conscious. Like the conscious mind, the unconscious has perception, purpose and intuition. It can also feel and think. More importantly, it contains, in addition to its countless potential senses, genetic factors accumulated over generations, whose very existence marks a step in the differentiation of species. If we allow the unconscious to personify, we might call it the collective man, which combines the characteristics of both sexes, transcends old and young, life and death, and, because it holds one or two million years of human experience, is almost eternal.

What is religion? Religion is a system of spiritual healing. What are we psychotherapists doing? In trying to heal the wounds of the soul, that is, the spiritual misfortunes of man, religion deals with this very problem. So our Lord is a healer who heals our diseases and removes the pain of our hearts; Isn't that what we call psychotherapy? It is not a play on words to say that religion is a system of spiritual healing. Religion is the most refined form of spiritual healing, containing great, true philosophy.

In Jungian psychology, psychology has multiple meanings of spirit, soul, spirituality and psychology, including almost all phenomena and meanings that can occur on the level of non-material human consciousness, especially on the level of spirituality. Therefore, Jung equated the spiritual world with the personality.
