My son, at 11 years, brings home all the neighbourhood strays and today was no different.
I look out the window and spy him walking through the back gate with a cute, fluffy four-legged friend following.
As he gets closer to the house, I hear him singing his favourite nursery rhyme.
"Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was white as snow," he sings.
Oh dear, it looks like we have another animal to add to our menagerie.
But then my taste buds begin to salivate and I instantly think, who am I kidding? It's lamb roast for dinner.

I was challenged by Jessica's Quill (Medium Writer) to write a drabble of the word 'lamb'.
Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :
A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

And will he eat this night or ever speak to his mother again? Of course if he does, what does that say about him?
