Magical Invention
Fiction Shorts word of the day: Purpose
Sally stood looking perplexed at the strange piece of equipment she held within the palm of her hand.
“Sally, are you okay?” asked Malcolm, the 4WD instructor.
“No Sir, Vicky handed me this tiny……..whatever, but I have no idea what to do with it. What’s its purpose?”
Malcolm gave a chuckle, “it looks alien, doesn’t it? It’s a tyre deflator, designed to remove the air from your tyres before we head onto the beach. Twist the tiny knob at the top to the desired PSI, screw it on the tyre valve and like magic, it’ll do the job for you.”
This drabble has been written as part of the daily Drabble Drop challenge and today's random word, that must be included in the drabble, is 'purpose'.
Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :
A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful idea in a confined space.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
