Luminaries
One person's snack is another person.
Luminaries are intelligent, gas-based, nonverbal entities. They communicate by changing the color of their transparent skin, similar to humans when they blush. Their body shape remains stable, while their internal gases continually churn like clouds.
Peter’s assignment is to develop a system that enables Humans and Luminaries to communicate. Regular meetings between species went well until the day Peter brought a bowl of Skittles into the room for a snack. The Luminary’s insides immediately churned violently. Its skin blushed bright red, then crimson. Later, Peter learned Luminary babies resemble Skittles. Interspecies communication is exceptionally complex.

Mark this was great! It totally spoke to my dark sense of humour, when you revealed that Luminaries babies look like skittles! I laughed at the thought that they thought they were watching humans eat their children! Such a great twist on a very original and fun story! 💜
Hahaha. That was very funny, and you did it in such an understated way. Loved it.💙Anneliese
