It was around midnight and the Roberts family were preparing to go to sleep as they were camping. The mother and father were sleeping in their own tent and so did the three children. The youngest child, Wilma, could not sleep and felt like she was hearing things outside. Somehow it had no effect on her older siblings. The twelve year old had then exited the green tent and started slowly. While walking she still heard the noise and could not figure out what it was and where it was coming from. She kept walking in the left direction of the forest and stopped by a tree that overshadowed her five two frame. She could hear the noise being close and looked around in different directions. She then looked up at the tree she was next to and saw a gray owl sitting on a branch. She had figured out where the noise came from and what it was. Wilma waved at the owl as it hooed. The owl flew down slowly to the ground right by Wilma's feet. She kneel in front of the owl and noticed that its left wing was hurt. She figured that the owl must have hurt itself during a flight. But what was going through in her mind was what to do about the broken wing. She then carried the owl back to the area where her family's tents are. She quickly reached into a black duffle bag and took out a first aid kit. She tried not to make much noise to help heal the owl.

"What are you doing?" She heard a voice from behind her and saw that it was her mother, Mrs Roberts. She was indeed woken up by the noise.

"I found this owl, mom. It needs help." Wilma told her as she was trying to wrap a bandage on the wing.

"It needs more than that." She said as she exited her blue tent. Mrs. Roberts saw the wing and realized that it was badly injured. Because she had been a veterinarian for fifteen years, she would be the one to take care of it. But the pet hospital that she works at downtown had closed for the night and she would need all the equipment to heal the owl. Another problem is the owl might fly off while Wilma and Mrs. Roberts are asleep. However Mrs Roberts had come prepared and brought a spare cage with her, putting it in the back of the family minivan. She took the cage out and opened it for the owl to enter.

"He'll be safe in here for the night. The place opens at seven thirty. So we would have had to leave early." Mrs Roberts told Wilma about the change of plans. The two went back to their tents to sleep as the owl sat in the cage between the tents. As it was about to hit sunrise, Mrs Roberts had got the family awake to head to the pet hospital, taking the owl with them. Once the family entered the pet hospital, Mrs Roberts took the owl with her to the operating room. She took x-ray photos of the left wing and put a miniature cast on it. She then came out the front, where the rest of her family were. She showed them the owl while holding it as it is wearing the cast.

"It would have to stay here until it fully recovers" Mrs Roberts told her family of the owl's temporarily situation.

"Can we keep it when it does?" Wilma asked concerned.

"Sorry. It would have to go back to its natural habitat." Mrs Roberts said to Wilma. The whole family left the pet hospital not before Wilma waved to the owl one last time.
