an astronaut lost's his way finding human population

By RohanPublished 7 days ago 1 min read

A spaceman floats in a black ocean of star fields.An alien pond supporting life as it yields. His home burned in nuclear fire.A wanderer out in the cold void.

The planets that he visits, one by one Under strange skies neon beneath different sun Whatev'er his spot Some shape of choral being in dark round Of creatures he meets but earth born not

He seeks signs of his human kin,On verdant worlds where rivers run, Or barren rocks where cold winds spin,He finds echoes of where life began.

The cycle of galaxies spiralling in mute grace, He roams continents the wide and time-space. He talks to creatures crusty - Gilled - And things with legs- And eyes.

Alien tales, each a mirror shard Revealing how we ignored job as guard. Their wisdom a balm, and voiced in a song, Still there remains a sweet echo of wrongs.

(Its) long deep furrows, drifts him off In a night that never breaks. Brooding in silence, he begins to scope... The unbearable burden of mankind's hope.

As he thinks, heavy thoughts come welling up inside him Awaiting God will', the turning of the tide. Old comrades lost to the cosmic night Gone forever, out of sight?

Until, alone in the void, he begins to perceive His one solacement now will be his leave Broken by hath spun, Erased by decisions they have done.

Quoth the stars above, a tale of old, To recount this song of life yet unsung. Time wound a relic, an astronaut aged into the stars in his mercury stage;

They look back with alien eyes,And sees in them but the best Of a human kind lit up with skies Of love and head thrilled rest. And in his heart a voiceless seethe, For the world that he once believed.

An ember from the flame, of which Hope won the claim. A solitary wanderer within the shade, Holding an ember that only had dimly stayed In obsession his pale form roams our orb a globe of reflection viewer on a nuithed crests upon it's eerie glow.
