The day started off as it did the day before Derek Quinn was reflecting on the events that unfolded before him in the previous days and the emotional ping pong game was still playing in his head. There she was just out of his peripheral vision the fair maiden Addison Fox.

“I have to tell her “Exclaimed Derek “I have to tell her who my father is” but how was he going to without breaking the little trust that he has built with the fair maiden Addison.

“It is simple, I will just come out and tell her "But was it going to play out like the emotional ping pong game in his head.

It was not until several days later when Derek muscled up the courage to talk with Addison. He came to the doors and to his surprise the second he thrust open the doors there she was fixing to knock.

“Have you been avoiding me?” asked Addison? Shock formed in both corners of Derek’s eyes. Had he subconsciously avoided Addison just to avoid telling her who he was? With a swift no hesitation answer he said “of course not, there is just something I have not revealed to you about myself”

The look on Addison’s face went from that of a somewhat serene look to a look of confusion and a little dread. What secret life could Derek have? The questions in Addison’s mind seem to start piling up and were not stopping. The only one that could possibly put those questions to rest now was Derek.” ok Addison focus on what he is saying”. As Addison shook off the dread her attention regained as she focused on the moment.

Derek started off “This is hard for me to tell you, Addison,” “and please know I did not purposely withhold this from you.” Derek took a deep sharp breathe in and explained that his father was King Ethan and he was falling for her even with the laws intact about a royal and non-royal.

It felt like only minutes had passed but Derek had been rambling for an hour about his feelings for Addison and how he does not agree with his father’s policies.

“STOP!” yelled Addison. As Derek’s attention snapped out of the cycle of word vomit, he was spewing the emotional ping pong game in his head came to a halt and all of a sudden it was like the world stood still, but it literally did!

Derek pulled his thoughts together long enough to see that he was holding Addison’s hands and there was an ominous glow coming from both of them.

They both looked up and the scene around them was “impossible!” Derek blurted.

The birds were stuck in midflight, the air still had leaves strewn across the sky as if they were frozen, and wait there was no wind. The scene was FROZEN!

Derek and Addison released their grip on one another. Then as is life was breathed back into the moment the birds finished their flight and the leaves continued to dance through the sky.

With a shaking voice and trembling hands, Addison whispered “what was that”?

Derek met Addison’s shaking voice with fear and answered “I do not know, but whatever it was I intend to find out”

Every muscle and fiber in Addison’s body was telling her to run. Was this fear she was sensing? Was this danger she was perceiving? As she looked up to Derek’s eyes, she was met with the comfort she has never felt before. At that moment at this very time, Addison knew that her very soul found its reason for being.

Stay tuned for more answers to the questions: What was the ominous glow and this strange magic? Do Derek’s feelings match Addison’s, and what will become of The Lost City of Pela?
