It was about two weeks and a half before the graduation of the class of 2001 for Lincoln high school. One member of a six person group, Megan had planned a party for her group and some other graduates. There was her a honor student, her long time friend, Joan the school's band drummer, Emily a classmate of hers who always wore all black clothing, Peter who wrote short stories in his spare time, Scott, peter's friend and Marc who often played sports and made the honor roll throughout the four years. Marc also played on the football team which is the Wildcats for the school. Megan had planned the party for weeks but had to set it before the prom which was exactly a week before the graduation ceremony. She had completed a list of guests to invite to the party placed at her house on Saturday night a week before the prom. She had trouble thinking of who to invite to the party. She knew emily did not go to parties or even school functions. The last time Scott went to a party most of the people he was talking to were bored by what he was talking about, which was what he learned in science class, working on computers and the latest comic books he read. As for Peter, he had a crush on Megan since their freshman year together and he had never really attended a party outside of school. He thought this might be his last chance to develop a relationship with her. Marc was already on the list except his fellow teammate Francis whom Megan had dated for a year and a half. Francis had ended it by dating Valerie, the head varsity cheerleader. Valerie never really liked Megan and found Emily to be weird. Now Scott had a crush on Valerie but she found him to be weirder than Emily all because of his interest in comics and science. "Now it's really important that they get these as soon as possible," Megan said to Joan, holding a stack of invitations for the party. "I'll hand these out during lunch and you can help me get the food," she said gathering up the intitivations. sure we can get the food after school joan replied to her as they left the library. So during their lunch period Megan and Joan handed out the invitations to those on her list, including Scott and Peter. Peter was surprised to receive an invitation and Scott was also surprised as he was seen as boring by others when it came to parties. Scott did a small victory dance as Peter looked at him very confused. So after school Megan and Joan went to the grocery store to pick up the food for the party. While picking up a bag of nacho chips in the chip aisle, Megan then sees Valerie and her two fellow cheerleaders Brooke and elle. The two were very different from her. Brooke had both an equal amount of warmth and coldness to her while Elle was much sweeter. "Another lonely night for you I see" Valerie said to megan. "Not now," Megan replied as she reached for a bag of plain potato chips on the upper shelf. Joan walked in the aisle holding one bottle of orange soda and another bottle of ginger ale and saw the interaction. She wondered what the cheerleaders were doing in a grocery store on a Wednesday afternoon. "Oh, I forgot. you only have her" Valerie said giggling. Both Megan and Joan were not amused and Brooke and Elle felt completely awkward. "And I guess this helps you," Joan stated to Valerie while Brooke and Elle looked like they wanted to laugh. The trio then left while Megan and Joan went to gather other food for the party. After the shopping spree, the two went to Megan's house to bring the food. In total, they brought two bags of chips, three types of cookies, paper plates, napkins, cups, and four bottles of drinks. After that she had thirteen dollars leftover.
