She believed her mother, even though her father did not. Her mother could never have been in love with another man. But it did not matter, their misunderstanding started a fight and then a separation and soon a divorce.
The print of Manda's lips on the photo with the reissued lipstick her mother wore in the photo matched her mother's lips exactly. But now Manda would discontinue wearing the lipstick, as she placed the photo in her keepsake box.

It was like something out of an episode of Jerry Springer—RIP Jerry, Caryn thought. She looked at the picture. A tiny teardrop puddle was in the center of it that rolled off when she picked the picture up. She was years younger in the photo and sticking her tongue out at the camera. Her lips were a color that they did not even make anymore, and she would never wear anything that gorgeous again she believed.

Perfect Little Pirate
The rough, sodden rope bit into her fingers as she swung over the roiling water far below. Reaching out with the toe of her boot, she managed to catch hold of the rain-soaked railing of the ship- and promptly slipped. Throwing herself forward, she landed hard on the deck, slamming her elbows against the wood planks. The sharp yelp of pain quickly bubbled into a laugh, and she rolled onto her back, laughing up at the gray sky as a torrent of rain washed away the soot covering her skin.
