JFK Jr. and his wife Carolyn were on a mission. A mission to change history, to rewrite the past. They believed that if they could go back in time and prevent the assassination of JFK, the world would not only be a better place, but they'd get John's father back. So they took to the skies in JFK Jr.'s small plane, determined to make a difference....

***

It all came about one day when JFK Jr was standing on the tarmac of the small airfield where he was getting his pilots license. Andrew, a trusted colleague of Johns came running towards him from the control room looking far more dishevelled than he had ever presented before.

"John, I've made a breakthrough in time travel. I can send you back to Dallas on that fateful day and prevent the assassination of your father," he said, waving a piece of paper in John's face.

JFK was taken aback and didn't attempt to hide his annoyance at such a ludicrous suggestion. He wasn't even aware of any project to explore time travel. Before he could respond however, Andrew removed a peculiar device from his pocket and pressed a button. In that instant, Andrew disappeared. John looked around frantically, speechless at what had just happened. It wasn't more than a second or so before Andrew came rushing in just as he had done the first time.

John gaped at Andrew. "How is that possible? Time travel is just science fiction."

Andrew leaned in close. "I assure you, it is very real. I just need a willing participant to make the journey. And what better journey than to save your father."

"I'll do it" John said, not having to think twice.

"I hoped you'd say that" Andrew grinned, handing over the papers the previous Andrew was waving in Johns face. They revealed plans of an aircraft, much the same as the one John had been learning to fly... with a few alterations.

Andrew went on to explain that short trips such as the one he had demonstrated could be done at the flick of a button, but due to the nature of the event, how long ago it was and energy surrounding it, John's trip was going to require two things. First of all, propulsion and the speed of a vehicle to take him there. Secondly, the pure intention and energy of love to combat the hatred of that day. This is why John was the only one who could complete the mission.

Carolyn (John's wife) of course permitted the mission with the condition that she were to accompany him.

After several months of preparation, they flew over the Atlantic, heading towards their destination. With Andrews direction, they had carefully calculated their flight path and planned for any possible scenarios. But as they neared the spot where they were supposed to go back in time, something went wrong.

Suddenly, the plane began to shake violently, and John struggled to keep it steady.

"Carolyn, something's wrong! We're losing altitude. We need to find a place to land," he shouted over the sound of the engine.

"I'm trying, John! I'm trying!" Carolyn replied, frantically scanning the horizon for a safe place to land. "Something is taking over the controls!"

The plane hurtled to the ocean surface and the couple embraced each other for what they thought was the last time. With their eyes held tightly closed they braced for a crash, only to be overcome with a bright light and the violent shaking of the plane stopped.

When they opened their eyes they found themselves safely in the seat of the plane on the deck of an aircraft carrier.

"Identify yourselves" called a voice from outside their plane. "What brought you to land here?"

John opened the plane door to greet the officer.

"Well?" The officer repeated

"We're lost," he explained, a little lost for words. They hadn't crashed, and John had been warned by Andrew that there was a chance they could materialise far from the coordination intended. "Can you tell us what day it is?"

Perplexed the officer responded. "The 21st".

"Of November... 63?" John hesitantly asked.

The officer slowly nodded, clearly disturbed by the need for the specific date.

John turned to Carolyn whose mouth was hanging in disbelief. "There's time..." She mouthed.

Before they could say more, the office began shouting into his ear piece. "What?! Another one, you've got to be kidding!" He immediately started gesturing from his fellow officers on deck to the sky and everyone around began preparing for the landing of another plane.

"John, look!" Carolyn exclaimed.

As the plane approached, they could see that it was none other than JFK himself, piloting the plane. Other officers on deck soon recognised the president too.

The current president of the united states swiftly vacated his small aircraft and headed straight for John and Carolyn, dismissing the frantic crew chasing him.

"I know what you're trying to do," JFK shouted to his son as he approached "But I'm here to stop you."

After a moment, John embraced his father as tightly as he could as Carolyn stood in disbelief.

"I don't understand, how is it you're here" John asked his father.

"You did it John, you saved me." He said. John studied his fathers face and noticed that he had aged more than the oldest pictures of him before his death. "I couldn't be more proud of you, son. You've been here thousands of times, over and over and there is only one way you save me." JFK hesitated for a moment. The chaos on the carrier mere background noise around the three of them.

"I will not...I WILL NOT, let my son die for me" said JFK through teary eyes. "A parent isn't supposed to outlive their child, John. So I've come back in time... this time, to save you." At that moment, a beautiful elderly Jackie Kennedy propped her head out of the plane JFK had come from and waved over to the trio.

The four of them soon left the carrier and watched the next day on the news of the Kennedy assassination and lived out their lives peacefully away from the public eye and leaving the world to mourn their passing.
