James and the infinite time

time zone

By Demarcus WalkerPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

In the quiet town of Everford, where clocks never seemed to agree on the hour, James Everhart discovered a secret he was never meant to find.

It began with an antique pocket watch, found buried in the attic of his late grandfather’s home. Its brass frame glowed faintly in the dark, its ticking rhythm strangely… uneven, as if keeping time in a language no one spoke anymore.

The first time James turned the crown, the world stilled. Raindrops hung in midair, birds froze mid-flight, and the street outside became a photograph of itself. In those suspended seconds, James could move, think, and act — while everything else remained trapped between moments.

But time, as James soon learned, is no loyal friend.

Every use of the watch drained something from him — not years, but fragments of his existence. Faces in his memories began to blur. Street names faded from his mind. People who once knew him looked at him as if he were a stranger.

Now, James must unravel the watch’s origin before the last thread of his identity unravels.

Because somewhere in the folds of history, something — or someone — is pulling him into a clockwork trap, and the final tick is coming sooner than he thinks.
