It's Apple Picking Time
Please help yourself
You Are Here challenge: Prompt - Write a story entirely in second person that puts the reader somewhere they aren't supposed to be.
Second person puts the reader inside the story. You don't watch someone else cross a line. You do.
Write a story entirely in second person that puts "you" somewhere you aren't supposed to be. Maybe you've wandered into the wrong room, shown up where you weren't invited, crossed a boundary you didn't know was there, or found yourself in a situation you have no business being part of.
Wherever you end up, make the second-person perspective matter. Use "you" to close the distance between the reader and the story, and make that feeling of being somewhere you shouldn't be impossible to shake.

What are you doing here? I didn't invite you! I wouldn't come to your house and take things from your property!
I cannot believe you thought that I would be okay with you just helping yourself to my apples on my tree.
It would have been different if you had stopped in to ask me. I may have said to go ahead and help yourself. It wouldn't have included your sister, and friend though!
We make applesauce, apple butter and apple cider every year, and we almost always harvest all of the apples on our tree.
I just cannot believe you would think it is okay to just help yourself.
And you think it is okay to just drop the apples and have them cover the ground.
Okay, pick those apples up, then go on get out of here, and I hope to never see you step foot again on my property without calling first, or finding me in the yard, stopping and talking to me first.
You aren't going to pick up those apples. How dare you! Yes, you can look at me like I am crazy. Go ahead, but who is on whose property without permission.
I know we are neighbors, but have I ever been on your property without being invited. Have I ever taken anything from your property? I wouldn't mind some of your rhubarb for example. But I would never just help myself.
I hope I have made myself clear!
Just so you know, your wife and daughter asked me to come and pick some apples, and my sister and her friend were at my house, and your wife said bring them along.
I would never come univited. I didn't realize that you were the only one that could invite me to pick apples. I will remember that it is you from now on!
My sister and her friend are just innocent in all of this! When my sister said, "What kind of neighbor are you?" it was out of concern for me! And when her friend insinuated that you may be a bit off of your rocker, I apologize for that.
You won't ever see me step foot on your property again. If you need something from us, talk to my husband. If he will speak with you after this.
And please let your wife and daughter know that they are welcome at my house anytime, and that they can feel free to come over and pick rhubarb anytime they like. We always have more rhubarb than we need.
I hope you have a better day, without us here to spoil your day. And remember that you are doing me a favor as I am not interested in making apple sauce, apple butter or apple cider. I'm only interested in eating a few and making a pie to give to your wife, and giving the rest to the deer in your field!
