“Honey, you’ll be fine, you’ll see,” Kelly soothes her teenage son.
But nothing Kelly could say would diminish the fear and anxiety that Cade’s feeling.
Today, Cade’s going to attend public school for the first time. Up until now, Kelly has home-schooled him and Cade is terrified of the entire notion of public school.
Knowing it is simply the fear of the unknown, Kelly knows Cade will do just fine but unfortunately, until Cade experiences the newness of it all, he’ll not settle down.
All Kelly can do is trust in Cade’s inner strength to win over the day.
I was challenged to write a drabble of the word ‘fear'.
Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :
A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

So true… effectively portrayed in your drabble. I must put Drabble into my Work in Progress 🥹
I totally understand that fear and anxiety. Loved your drabble!
