Innocent Angels

Fallen on hard times

Never judge a book by its cover as there are angels that walk among us.

It could be the homeless man sitting on the corner, with his mug sitting on the footpath in front of him, and the sign asking for help.

When this homeless man accumulates enough coins, he’ll buy his dog dinner.

Or, it could be the teenager that has just been busted for stealing a packet of biscuits from the convenience store.

The packet of biscuits he stole to feed his little brother because their mother deserted them a week ago.

Never assume you know another’s story.

This drabble has been written as part of the daily Drabble Drop challenge and today's random word, that must be included in the drabble, is 'among'.

Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :

A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

This was just so sad. I always give people the benefit of the doubt and not judge them. A man was arrested here and put in prison because he stole some baby formula and diapers. He did that because he lost his job due to the pandemic. Not sure what happened to his wife though. The justice system didn't show him any mercy. All the politicians are committing fraud worth millions but this guy gets jailed. I just don't know what to say.
